Fairyland

************************
We named her Morgan le Fay after the sorceress from the Arthurian Legend of King Arthur and Guinevere. She was said to be a fairy. When I found her a couple of years ago, adorned in such beautiful finery, with angel hair and gossamer wings, I brought her home to keep my Bohemian Santa company. Morgan stands over two feet tall so is quite striking in her silks and velvets. This display is in the dining room.

How amazing that so much beauty is bestowed on a 'holiday decoration'. Details of the layered velvets in the gown, with a long silk train, tiny velvet leaves and berries attached......and that hair!!

As for Santa, the rich colors of his velvet clothing, devilish little gnomes at his side, not to mention that beautiful hat..............all make him a legendary Father Christmas from a faraway land.

Next time - a visit with the 'little uglies'.

  3. She is indeed beautiful in those flowing robes and golden hair, and her face is very delicately painted. It's nice to see some real craftsmanship. Love the color combinations between Morgan le Fey and Santa.

  6. You do have some beautiful collectibles! And, in your unique fashion, you have given them life in your tiny vignettes! I can almost feel the flame of the candles.

    Thanks for a lovely visit!

  7. She is utterly spectacular! A right companion for Father Christmas.

I collect Father Christmases and tend toward those lovely, rich jewel colors or else all white/gold.

  8. I love when the Christmas decorations come out, and I am sad to put them away. The fairy could stay out all year couldn't she?

  9. How pretty the fairy is and love the Santa. The details on these figures are so great nowadays. They britghten up any table don't they.

Are you putting up a tree this year? My mother and you are both picking what decorations to put out and what to leave in the attic. I cut back on my stuff last year and gave a box of decorations away. I am glad I did this year. It is making it easier. I even put out my nutcracker collection this year which I skipped last while I was putting so much energy into seperating what I wanted to keep or not.
