Pillow Talk

Have you noticed how the majority of men dislike pillows and cushions? They never know where to put them. Whereas, women adore them...................placing them, piling and stacking them, throwing 'throw pillows' hither and thither, lounging back on them................feeling elegant, comfy, even romantic.

Women like fringes, ruffles, quilting, buttons, tassels, I even like writing...................embellishments adding luxury, elegance, even a quirky look.

Luckily my dh has a place to pile them at bedtime - he dislikes them but he knows I love them and that they're here to stay! My current pillows from the bed piled on the loveseat for the night.

Why the discussion about pillows? A friend told me that pillows are also the easiest way to decorate for Christmas. She collects beautiful Christmas inspired pillows and tosses them on sofas, chairs, beds, all around the house - instant comfy Christmas. I must discuss this idea with dh - but of course I already know what he's going to say!
Perhaps this Irish Father Christmas pillow might change his mind - after all it would remind him of his heritage.......................

Then perhaps I could add this one which immediately caught my eye - I love anything with pears and there's writing too. Goodness me, I think I see a possible collection for next Christmas!

  2. You are so right about men and pillows (and my DH hates it that he can't "use" all of them to his heart's content, too). Your bedroom is so pretty, and those pillows would go perfectly in mine, too ;) I love the idea of Christmas-themed pillows, just for the season, too.

  4. My dear Mary, you have such a refine taste. I love all your decorations, and pictures posted on your beautiful blog.

    Enjoy the Season, my friend.

Christmas is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace…

  5. Oh yes, I gave up on extra pillows on my bed. We sure do not have room for a love seat, what a wonderful room. I love the Irish one. They are all great. That last one is really great too. Now you need to make the other 11 hahaha.

  7. I love pillows ~ lots of pillows, everywhere ... on the bed, on the sofa, chairs .... such comfort! But my dh is like yours and dislikes them immensely. Hence I have very few pillows ~ except in my guest room where you can hardly see the bed anymore! ♥

  8. How funny! I had to LOL. My hubby is the same way. Just doesn't get it, always complaining there's too many. I love decorating with different pillows and I have a stash in the attic.
I think a collection would be a good idea!

  9. Very enlightening! I did not realize that men hating pillows was a universal trait; however, it's certainly true at my house!

Christmas pillows would make a wonderful collection! Or how about pillow covers in Christmas themes to dress up your everyday pillows for the season? And they take up less storage room too.

  10. My husband doesn't get pillows either. We lost one bedroom in a renovation and sold two twin beds but I still have all of the pillows with no place to store them so now I have 8 pillows on our bed, except that they don't look sylish. May one day I will find some cool pillow cases.

  11. I love pillows, too! We have a gliding loveseat in the bay window of our room...that's where the pillows are piled.

The Christmas pillows are beautiful. The toile pillow caught my eye. Gorgeous!

  12. How true about men and pillows! That's why I don't have a husband anymore. Been there, done that (3 times to be exact!! I am a slow learner!) Had to decide between husband(s) and pillows and the pillows won hands down!
Seriously, I love living alone with the kitties because I can do whatever I want with my house....selfish? Not so, after a few husbands one learns what works for one...and for me, it's being alone.
To be fair, no man in his right mind could possibly put up with my work schedule......and how often can you repeat "not to night, I am too tired.....) before they get fed up???
So, here is to having all the pillows and frills (if not thrills) ...........
