I do not make New Year resolutions because I never keep them!
However, this coming year I plan to make time to keep a proper hand written journal. I feel my blog is my journal too ~ I print each post and keep in a binder ~ however I want to take a few minutes each day to write a few thoughts down the old fashioned way.
I found this beautiful vintage looking journal when picking out books I wanted to receive for Christmas. It's look inspired me ~ sized like an old accounts ledger, each page displays three days ~ with narrow lines which suit my hand. There is a satin ribbon to mark the page.
At the bottom of each page is a quote - the first one being..............
We are always beginning anew ~ anonymous.
For each season of the year there is a collage and a beautiful quotation.
This is the one for Winter from Thoreau.........
Do you make resolutions? Do you keep them?
Are you planning journaling this coming year?
If so, do you have a beautiful book ready to be filled with daily thoughts?
Whata lovely journal. I am always looking for pretty journals for gifts. I would love to start journaling. I always say I will and then I never do. Maybe you have encouraged me a bit.
ReplyDeleteThis is the prettiest journal I have ever seen! It will be a joy for you to keep it. I must admit that I have tried a number of times to keep a journal and never keep it into March. I start out with great resolve though. I hope you will enjoy keeping this one. I love that you print your blog out. I mentioned that to Jos once and he thought I was crazy. Well, he is an IT man. :)
ReplyDeleteI am sending you an email and don't mind at all sharing my email address with you. I am off first to start peeling potatoes for our Dutch stamppot which is a traditional winter meal here.
Hugs ~
Heidi
Thanks for visiting at my place! What a wonderful journal! It surely invites You to write. My handwriting is a mess (to much computerwork for too long!) But I can write nicely if I really go for it. My resolution for 2008 would be to get moore exercise like go for walks. I really need this!
ReplyDeleteI wish You and yours a Very Happy New Year 2008!!
Liisa
That's a beautiful journal! It'll be pleasure to use it I'm sure. No New Year's Resolutions for me!

The book is beautiful - surely an invitation to visit it daily and write! I love these type of books, don't you? Full of posibilities and dreams - hardships and the overcoming of them. Take the moments to visit it and relive the days - you'll find strength, joy, sadness and laughter over and over again.
ReplyDeleteBlessings for the New Year!

I have never been a list maker~ but I do try to do a to-do list for the new year... Last year included riding in a London cab.
ReplyDeleteI have to work on mine for this year!
I LOVE your blog site. I've been reading it for a few months now but have never commented on it.
ReplyDeleteIt was time to do so!
The journal is PRECIOUS.
I think that is fab that you print off your blog entries. Smart lady.
By the way...I LOVE anything and all things British.
I wonder IF that's why I like you and your site so much....hummmm.
Keep up the good work.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful journal to keep your thoughts....I keep a journal of sorts...
I don't make New Year's resolutions but I do try to improve my habits, thinking on God's goodness to me, etc.
Thank you for dropping in to visit and leaving such a kind comment...
Blessings to you and yours in the new year.....Betty
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of keeping a journal and I also think that you keeping a notebook of your posts is a great idea. I too never make a New Years resolution, however this new year I want to do what I already do, just better. Your Journal is beautiful and I am sure it will be filled with lovely words and thoughts.
Happy New Year.
Cindy
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI never make resolutions either.
I just have ideas that I want to do for the coming year.
I love your journal idea, such a pretty one too.
Happy New Year!
Rosemary
Hi Mary The journal is lovely and should be fun to write in each day. I have journalled for a long time and I think you'll like it too! My journals are just those black hard cover school composition books, not fancy like yours. Hope the new year is a healthy and happy one. Rhondi
ReplyDeleteI love the journal. Since I have started blogging, I haven't done any writing by hand. Yours would certainly tempt me. I'm not making a resolution this year but, instead, am picking one word to focus on to see how that changes my life.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a jouirnal and have tried several times to keep one but I know myself well enough now to know that it isn't going to happen:) I don't make New Year resolutions but I do try to make a fresh start and set a coiple of goals - not the lose 20 pounds type but the kind which is one for 2008 - to actually travel in and see more of the UK. There are so many beautiful areas that I've never visited so I plan to do something about that. Happy New Year Mary!
ReplyDeleteLovely journal Mary - Kate gave me a similar one for Christmas - very vintage looking and filled with quotes and birds ( all my avourite things ):-} Happy Writing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely journal Mary :) I must not put off starting one another year ! Thanks for the inspiration )

I love this journal...I had to have one as well. I hope you will enjoy yours too.
ReplyDeleteTickled to have found your blog.
Dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful journal. It would make me want to pick up a pen and begin writing immediately.
I have tried regular journals but I do prefer the online journal. I made my first post back in January 2007 and in that I explained why I don't like/can't do regular journaling.
I don't make resolutions anymore but I made my daughter two promises:
1. To contact her boyfriend's homeopathic practitioner for my cts, and 2. To learn to use the software she gave me for Christmas to save my hands - it turns your speech into text!
I have promised myself to create more art. I was off to such a good start when I took my visual journaling class last spring but then got fired from my job which really sucker punched me. (This is all before I knew you!)
Hugs,
Julie
I have kept a journal since 1978 -- 30 years this year!! Have you heard of Julia Cameron's morning pages? 3 pages, every day, as soon after awakening as possible (okay, I've usually brushed my teeth and taken the dogs for a morning run). Anything. Nothing. 3 pages of "I don't want to write" if necessary (that has never happened for me -- even if I start out blank, I quickly think of stuff). All kinds of neat, creative things come out of my morning pages -- I highly recommend them!
