Pull up a Chair

Know what? I'm decorated out. I'm tired and I just want to sit down in a comfortable chair -~ perhaps with a few of those squishy pillows we talked about yesterday ~ with my feet up on an ottoman.
This evening I'm going to do just that - watch a movie and enjoy a snack and a glass of red! Netflix delivered 'Practical Magic' which I know is a chick flick set in what some say is the perfect house and decor for we vintage cottage gals. Perfect, dh is trying to get out of snowy Boston on his way to Phila. and not back here until tomorrow night, weather permitting. I'm almost done penning my Christmas cards ~ will finish tomorrow morning ~ tonight is my night to find a chair and flop!

These are pretty but don't look comfortable for watching the movie. The one above, with the amazing scarf, is at Anthropologie.
These are in the Brocade catalog ~ OK for dinner but not for watching the silver screen.

These below are elegant and French - from La Grange - again more for dining at an elegant country French table in Provence, or at my brother's home in Southwest France.
And of course this one I've shown before and it's the favorite of everyone ~ where did she get it?Well guess this is going to be the one ~ it's mine and I can sink into it wearing comfy clothes ~ perhaps even my jammies - bring me a pillow and that remote. I'm ready to punch buttons and be lazy for a change. Will let you know if I enjoyed the movie later.

  1. Sounds absolutely fabulous! I'm also propping up my feet tonight and having a glass of wine. Sometimes you just need to do that!

  2. Hi Mary Isn't it fun to just give yourself permission to be lazy and watch a movie? I haven't seen the movie but I remember seeing the home in Victoria magazine years ago. It was really wonderful. I think that they built it for the movie. It wasn't a real house. That chair looks very comfy. we have ones just like it. Hope you enjoy the movie!

  3. Mary,

The movie and the chair sound oh so much better than going back out to finish shoveling. Hope your husband gets to Philly, I wouldn't count on him getting there on time.

  4. Love the chair, hate the movie. Just a little strange but I enjoyed looking at the house.

  5. That sounds like a a relaxing evening! I did the same only Netflix brought me the Gilmore Girls Season 2. I don't watch a lot of TV so when TV shows come out on DVD it's all new to me :-)

  7. Hello Mary
    The anthropology scarf you showed is the one Kate fell in love with - gorgeous isnt it? :-}
We loved the movie Practical Magic ~ and that house ... I think I watch it just to look at that house!

  8. Ah Mary ~ alas I know this feeling today! I really am just letting all the business of the holidays get to me now. I have a big party coming this Wednesday evening and I still have to do my Christmas cards. I wish I could just run off and join you for a sit in a comfy chair like in that last photo and watch that movie. I have never heard of it and think I might have to look it up.

I had a wonderful few days away though and am going to use my next few blog entries to share some fun of the city of Brugge with everyone. Beware as my latest post does have a calorie warning with it! :)

I will be catching up more on your previous blog entries on Sunday evening. We are almost ready to leave now for Cranberry Cottage. Have a super weekend!

    Hugs ~

  9. Movie Review -
'Practical Magic' was a bit strange and over the top - more like a grown up fairy tale - but the characters are great and that house, especially the kitchen, is awesome.
Love all those actors - Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Stockard Channing and Diane Wiest - and Aiden Quinn's not bad either!

  10. Oh Mary, your chair would be my choice. I don't like sitting in a straight back chair with no foot rest. I have my feet up when I am sitting. Sorry the movie wssn't all you hoped it would be.

  11. I loved "Practical Magic" and I do agree with those who liked how that house was decorated - especially the kitchen/conservatory.

My favorite chick flick is "While You Were Sleeping" which is centered around Christmas/New Year. A new favorite is "The Family Stone" which is a comedy centered around Christmas.

I LOVE you comfy overstuffed chair and want one. Guys can have their recliners!

  12. What a comfy spot! I can empathize with the tired-of-decorating thing! When DH and I were decorating last week, we hit that "pooped" point and just stopped. So, my nutcrackers and santas are spending the holidays in storage!

I hope that you enjoyed your movie!

  13. Hi Mary, your chair looks like the perfect place to be, and the room it's in looks very cozy. I see a glimpse of a fun looking banner in the background. In the foreground I'm enjoying the glass vase filled with ornaments - very pretty!!
