Stop dreaming and get on with it!

I have to stop thinking about the new decorating project. Even stop looking around shops such as this one where I took these photographs last week, and just get on with the job at hand.
Time waits for no man.................or woman, and the minutes are ticking away.
Catnapping is a nice pastime on chilly Winter afternoons.............but only if you're a cat and don't have walls to prep and paint.
Sitting by the warm hearth staring into the dancing flames, dreaming of what a room could look like......if you just get out of the chair and climb the stairs, and get to work on it.
Day dreaming is even worse..................thinking of sparkling beaches, warm sand, cool drinks while watching mermaids sunning on the rocks. Can pigs fly?
Don't think so. But I can still spackle holes, brush trim with the best of 'em.................. and wield a paint roller. Better get moving and go pick a color...........you know how long that part takes!!!

Stayed tuned............I'll get there eventually.

  3. Hi Mary. You always have the best pictures! Somwhere I saw a pillow with the words "a deadline is the best inspiration". All you need to do is invite someone to come visit for a few days and maybe that will motivate you to get going. Have fun choosing the colors. Rhondi

  4. There's nothing wrong with daydreaming ... I sometimes end up in an entirely different (and better) direction after procrastinating on a project. You'll get it done when you're ready! ~ hugs, Lynda xo

  5. I love those pigs!!! They're a hoot!

Sometimes I like to daydream about a project more than actually doing it LOL!

Paint picking is always so painful for me - too many colors to choose from.

  6. I'm having the same issues right now with decorating. Probably the only thing that makes me happier than decorating is THINKING about decorating, which I do all the time!

  7. Mary, I can see why doing the job comes second to browsing around such a delightful shop and, after all, you are still recharging your batteries after a hectic Christmas :>)
Let piglets fly and mermaids bask, relax awhile then tackle the task :>)
    Good luck Angela

  14. Oh Mary, I am much worse, I bought a gallon of paint and it is sitting in the can waiting for me to get motivated. Which room are you doing? Mine is for the hallway and kitchen.

  15. When you finish your painting, could you come and help me paint too? :) Thinking about doing the job is tiring isn't it. And then we have no puff to get up and really do it. I agree that deciding on colors is sometimes the biggest job. But then again, if you don't like what you choose, you just start the whole process over again. Sitting in the chair and contemplating what color you want to change it to now. LOL!

I lived in England as a little girl and will tell you a story about it on my blog this weekend.

  16. Mary,
    I'm here again ;>) I can't keep away...haha! I forgot to say that I just love that little mermaid. I would have found it so difficult to resist her. One of the girls in our group is a real mermaid lover and it has rubbed off on all of us :>}

  20. It took me sooooo long to pick a paint color for our newly-renovated bathroom. It is a beautiful apricot. The bathroom is coming close to being done - just accessories now - and is pretty close to my dream of it.

You are wise to do your project in January. Never, never do a project in December, like we did.

  21. What a neat shop....that would get me to daydreaming, too! I love the pigs! My boss' favorite saying is "when pigs fly!", so we are always on the lookout for those.

    Stay warm this weekend!
