Keeping Warm

Morning arrived with boning chilling cold ~ but no ice to engrave with figure 8's here ~ just sunshine, blue sky and very low temperatures. Not complaining ~ a great day to work on things around the house ~ perhaps bundle up in warm knits later for a brisk walk.

Darn ~ knew I should have persevered with that knitting ~ need something warm to wind around my neck today.

Once back in the warmth of home I will start planning the redecoration of the guest room. Paint chips at the ready (dh gets so nervous when he spies these!) ~ magazine pages strewn across the bed ~ books of inspiration with pages marked ~ fabric swatches stapled to the sample board. First to find a dry wall guy ~ ceiling needs a little work ~ then I'll be ready to paint the walls, the furniture, myself...................into a corner. Hope not!
Anyone else planning a room makeover soon? Let's get moving before Spring arrives and the garden calls.
Would love to hear about redecorating projects you may be be doing at your house.

  1. HI Mary,
I found your blog through "Rose Colored Glasses" by Rhondi! I can't wait to try the Hot Pot from Jan 13.

  2. Mary, the hot pot recipe looks delicious - will definitely try that! Perfect for a cold winters night.

  3. A cold 26 this a.m.! At least it's sunny! Sounds like a fun project. My DH always gets "that look" when I pull out the paint chips. I'm going to be redoing my family room in a few.

  4. There's a little bit of redecorating going on at my house, mostly trying to bring the outdoors in, since I'm so ready for spring!

  5. Mary,
I love the wonderful feeling of spaciousness and abandonment in your lovely icy photo. What a great feeling of letting everything go and just flying on the ice. And...talking of illustrations, where are you finding these delicious J W Smith illustrations from. I just love them.

  6. Love you little knitter. It is never to late to pick it back up you know. Look at my son Bill.
I need to paint my kitchen, but I am sure not in the mood. Maybe someday this year.

  7. Hello Mary

I picked up paint chips at Lowes, today. These are for the master bathroom at the lake. J asked me what I was looking for at Lowes and I told him this and that. He went looking for something and saw me duck into the paint department. J gets a tad nervous too, when there is painting to be done!

Just before Christmas someone told me about a great deal on bird prints at Pottery Barn. I ordered them and they are beautiful. You know how one thing leads to another? I've begun a little makeover in our living room, because of those prints! I have a vision...we shall see what we shall see!

Looking forward to your guest room redo!

  8. Really chilly here too, however we are expecting snow or some version of it starting tomorrow afternoon. Won't that be fun? I too start decorating in the winter, I guess being cold outside verses cozy inside, I choose the latter. My home is on hold right now, but am going all out at the shop for spring.

  9. Mary,
I have some projects to tackle this year...but not until Spring arrives, unfortunately I'm busy with work right now - agh! Cannot wait to see your guest room all done, I'm sure it's going to be lovely.

  10. That is cold and a good time to stay indoors and plan. I wish I could offer decorating advice but that is so not my gift. I've got a new room that needs a magic touch and I'm not sure where to begin.

  11. Oh, it sounds like so much fun! I can sympathize with the cold! We are supposed to start getting quite a bit of snow again! It is 17 here today, not too bad. Hmmm, I can't wait to see what you do with your guest room! Decorating is just so much fun!

  12. It has finally gotten cold here after being mild for so long. But I haven't dragged out a hat and scarf yet. I've been dreaming of a light, fluffy, yet warm scarf.
