Carolina Blue skies have returned and our snow of last week has just about gone. The kids missed three days of school and will have to make them up - no school for just 5" of snow sounds silly to the northerners - it's because school buses can't maneuver on the icy back roads - very little snow removal equipment in the south!
After DH shoveled the big stuff, I delicately swept the front steps with my lightweight broom - sorry but my back no longer does shoveling heavy snow as it did when we lived in New England all those many long ago winters.

Before the sun shone brilliantly and the rains came, the garden looked lovely dressed in white.
Candles and snow - at night they cast the prettiest glow.

It was my own fault.....................I left these grinning cuties out since Christmas. Guess Mother Nature stopped by, read the message and granted a wish!
We saw a few flurries yesterday but today sunshine and warmer temps. As for those of you in the East who were inundated by the huge snowfall and blizzard of the past 48 hours, all I can say is, hang in there, stay safe, be warm...............and let someone else shovel!!!

Yes, They seem to be under almost 30 inches all through the DC area, and into PA!! Crazy!!
ReplyDeleteSee you soon!!

Good Morning Mary,
ReplyDeleteKent is fixing me breakfast, so I thought I would take a moment to visit.
Your snow pictures are beautiful. I adore your angels. We are suppose to get sun here today and tomorrow, then tomorrow night freezing rain again!

Mary,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I don't miss dealing with the white stuff. I would love to see one good nor'easter - perhaps a virtual experience!! Florida has not been warm but nothing like the north. Have a great day!
Carol
Your beautiful photos make the snow seem appealing. I have that little cherub resting her cheek on her hand. (Mine has a snow cap too - we got 5 inches Friday and Sat.) I don't do shoveling either. Dan went out this morning and did it. Usually a neighbor blows out our sidewalk and drive but he must not have felt charitable yesterday.
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard for you Southerners to have snow. You just aren't used to it. I'm sure our kids would have been in school, as usual. Just another day up here!
Dan is making appetizers for a Super Bowl party we're going to. I'd rather stay home and be cozy and read.
I had to chuckle ... there is a "Sleigh Bells Ring" decorative piece on our front door!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, but I sure am glad it has melted!

So glad to see the sunshine today! We still have a few traces of the white stuff in our front yard where there isn't much sun. Look forward to warmer days so we can go shopping!
ReplyDeleteSigh, I wish we would have snow. Talked to my aunt this morning and she said her (and your area) are looking for more ice and snow this week! I love looking at candle light in snow, and if by chance before the winter is over we receive some then I will be melting it with all the candles out there!!
ReplyDeleteTake Care!
Ulrike
We have very much the same taste. I have the urns, angels and let it snow sign ahd and Iron Fairy in my yard
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have had an interesting life..
Yes, do let someone else shovel. Fun to see your winter garden.
ReplyDeleteYour garden does look lovely indeed! And the gazebo too, with its frosted roof.
ReplyDeleteYour snow angels are lovely. Time to take the snowmen indoors n'est pas? You have to be careful what you wish for you know.

Hi Mary, your garden is so pretty in the snow. I just woke up to more snow here this morning. What's up with this weather! It's not supposed to snow in Hampton, but this is like our 4th snow in 2010!! xo, suzy
