Heading South!

We left town on Tuesday................ even though this is what greeted us when we looked out the door with eyes still blurry from sleep. We had to head South for a dear friend's retirement celebration. A party, a night in a nice hotel, and breakfast in the morning. We went - we had a ball. We were safe because dh is a New Englander and knows how to drive through six inches of Southern snow! Thank goodness.

Outside the front door at 6 AM

Back garden scenery at 7:30 AM

Snow still falling when we left at 10 AM
Winter wonderland at last!

  7. Wonderful pictures, Mary!! Can you believe we headed to Blowing Rock (Sunday AM through Tuesday PM) for snow, only to find out that we missed it at home? We were able to catch the remnants of the snowfall that blanketed everything here, so that made it all worth driving home to. Hope you had a fun (safe) trip!

  8. Yes Mary, I did think of you when I heard that snow was expected in Raleigh. Nice for a quick change for you but hope it doesn't last long. We have had 44" so far and the average for our entire winter is 41". Last year we only had 15" all winter and it was great.

I am sure that I have told you that my boys' father lives in Raleigh and I know he has seasons tickets for basketball so he was probably at the same game as your Bob.

    Thanks for your lovely comment.

  9. Your snow photos are lovely. A true winter wonderland for sure. Outside the front door is gorgeous. The last photo is too.

We haven't been able to drive up our driveway for four days. Bill has tried many times and he just spins his wheels and slides backwards. Our big truck can make it because it has four wheel drive. Our daughter couldn't make it either. I may have already mentioned it. Anyway nothing has changed. sigh.

I hope you had a wonderful time on your trip. It's a good thing your dh knows how to drive in snow. We really do not know a thing about it.
    We are learning fast.
    Hugs and xoxo...Jeanne

  10. Oh Mary, I would so gladly send you some snow. It has been so cold here. I am ready for spring.
We have to go to Pennsylvania on Sat. My only Aunt left is going to be 100. I so hope the weather is ok. The roads are good now. It really was beautiful from the look of your pictures.
