...........................I'll start the new year with fresh juice, yogurt, organic granola, blueberries and of course coffee, lots of strong black coffee.
In France it's strong black coffee with a buttery croissant or pain au chocolat. So why are the French in better shape and apparently healthier than many US citizens? It's all about walking. Walk the village streets as I did in October. Walk the wide boulevards of Aix-en-Provence, Paris and other French cities. No fancy equipment required. Jogging not necessary. Walk to the bakery, the village grocery, the flea market, through the vineyard, up into the hills for the view and the fresh air. I know ~ most of us can't do those romantic sounding walks, sigh!
Just get out there and do it anyway. Let's all walk somewhere today!
healthy lifestyle for 2009.
Great images! Good luck with your plan for a healthier life style-I'm trying to do that too! I already do a lot of walking but because of weather I use my treadmill. Have a wonderful week!~Smiles~Tam!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Mary!
ReplyDeleteWIshing you much success with your new plan. I am just so thrilled to have a day in the upper 30's. I can finally take a trip out of the house!!
I'm doing the healthy eating and walking thing, too. I want to feel better and have more energy.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Susan
Jasmine is a talented granddaughter, please tell her we all think so. As for walking, it's part of my plan for '09. Fifty year high school reunion in September, must look as good as humanly possible! Regarding hand written notes and letters ... maybe that's why we enjoy the Christmas and Holiday cards that come our way each year. I still have one friend who doesn't use a computer and sends me hand-written notes from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI sure do know I need to exercise more. I love fruit, so no trouble eating that, now the problem might be, I also love chocolate. LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Nancy
Good plan...if it wasnt so cold today!
ReplyDeleteFunny you mention that Mary as I was discussing how English people just walk more and thus are generally a little slimmer. We get spoiled here but when the weather is so extremely hot it's difficult to get out and about. Many be now is the best time--just not early morning--far too cold.

--Oooh, that sounds soooo good!
I don't think walking from the parking deck into my office is doing the trick. I would love to be able to walk in such a lovely environment.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the wonderful things about sharing one's life with a big furry dog. Walks are mandatory!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos by Jasmin!!
That's the kind of breakfast I usually have in the summer because we have blueberry bushes. In the winter I switch to hot oatmeal. I wish we had more sidewalks around here so that walking wouldn't be so dangerous! Happy New Year and good luck with your plant.

I'm trying! Kyle and I like to go for a walk in the afternoon after school! Good together time!!
ReplyDeleteHealthy...that's what I'm going for also. Tomorrow - the two big invasive medical procedures...ugh!
ReplyDeleteI don't want to leave with saying, "Thank you, Jasmin! The photos are just lovely!"
Much love ,
Deborah
I walked today...we live on a private road at the top of a mountain. Our mailbox is at the bottom of the road on the main highway. It is really easy walking down...but a devil walking back up. That is my new exercise routine. We are trying to eat healthier too. More mediteranian foods...fresh veggies, fish, olive oil etc...
ReplyDeleteMary, I am inspired by your plan to walk and eat healthy. I can eat better that is for sure but walking will have to wait. I used to walk two miles everyday and my knee surgery changed that. However, I will walk again but it will be awhile. I'll be cheering you and Jasmin on.
ReplyDeleteI did leave a comment on your post about writing today as well. I loved that post Mary.
Hugs...Jeanne
Ah yes, walking! I will be happy to get back to the retired life so I can go walking and photographing again. I've also noticed than when walking regularly I also want to eat more healthfully too...no so many sweets.
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to get back on the walking routine asap.
