Golden Surprise!

Last evening I went to Trader Joe's for a fresh baguette, goat milk brie, Greek yogurt and a few other food items I crave from that particular store. Inside the door, among the flower display, was a bucket of golden daffodils, mostly still in bud, and just $1.39 a bunch. I grabbed two bunches knowing I could add them to the ones picked from my own garden and fill a creamware jug. On reading the tag in the car - dh was driving - I screeched loudly proclaiming the origin of these lovely fresh flowers................they came from 'across the pond', from England, from HOME!!!! How amazing. I am now enjoying a breathe of English Spring right here in my North Carolina kitchen.
Life is good!

  1. Nothing more cheering than a bouquet of fresh flowers. They are selling bouquets of daffodils here in Paris-the first sign of Spring.

  5. Mary I got all misty eyed while reading this. I am so happy you found a bit of England in those daffies. I wish we had a Trader Joe's close by. The nearest one to us is about 40 miles.

I've tagged you for a 6 word memoir. I enjoyed doing this one so much. At first I thought it would be a challenge. But it turned out to be quite easy.

  10. Enjoy your little spot of English spring through your pretty daffys! Isn't it fun when things in life come together like this as you read the tag? I love baguette and brie! Just add a little lettuce to it and I am in heaven. :) I just love your kitchen dear friend.

How is your weather doing? Did you end up getting some more rain? Or are you already enjoying sitting on your front porch with a cup of tea?

    Hugs ~

  15. That's wonderful! A real treat for you.

Trader Joe's is my favorite store! Yes, that Greek yogurt is wonderful...I prefer the plain, with 0 fat content. It's so rich and creaming, you don't miss the fat at all. A small serving, with honey poured on top - ahhhhhh!

  16. Oh, my, daffodils from England. No wonder you screeched. We get them in the supermarket (not from England) in March but usually the first batches are not too healthy. They dry up quickly, fail to open, etc. But then later we get nice fresh ones and they are not too expensive. My mom used to buy them. She seldom was able to have fresh flowers. She loved them so much and she taught me to love them too.
