Just a few images from our beautiful Easter Sunday here in my North Carolina garden.
The sky was blue and the air warm........perfect for an egg hunt.
The lilies bloomed..................
.....................and, I don't have pictures, but must tell you how excited I was to see that Mrs. Carolina Wren picked the nest in the wall planter by the front door and has already laid two eggs today! Just hope she's not disturbed too much as we come and go.
I'm hoping your Easter was beautiful too.
Happy Easter Mary! Thank you for sharing all of these beautiful photo's! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter sweetie!

Happy Easter Mary.
ReplyDeleteYour Easter garden looks so pretty. We woke up this morning to a fresh snow fall :-} and I heard on the radio as I was driving my son to work this morning that tomorrow we will wake up to a few more inches!! It will be a while until anything blooms in my garden. How exciting to have Carolina Wren nesting by your door!
Your violets and girl with the basket is so lovely! It is spring! We have snow storm again, Easter Bunny came to my backyard and eat some shrubc I canft wait for the sunshine !
ReplyDeleteLovely to visit your blog again and see how your garden is coming to life. Here there is only subtle differences between the seasons. At present just a nip in the air to tell us we are entering autumn and winter clothes in the shops. Here at my local cinema: "Love in a time of cholera" is showing. I see it is one of your favourite books. I also loved it. I also like Isobel Allende's novels set in South America. Have a lovely week. Eleanor at Thatchwick
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of a simnel cake. Must go look it up.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a little wren scold me when I gardened. She had made her home in a bird house I had tacked to a tree and I'm sure she was afraid I would hurt her babies.
Thanks for all the lovely photos. Our day was quite low key. No little kids around to give baskets to. I don't even mail our daughter an Easter basket anymore, because she quit eating candy. Those were the fun days.
What a pretty girl your granddaughter is! Did she enjoy coming over for the egg hunt? And aren't you lilies so beautiful! What a cheerful thing on the table with the cake.
ReplyDeleteOur garden here in the city is so tiny that it is easy to care for. I get frustrated that I can no longer do it. I used to love doing those kind of things. Nowadays, Jos asks me to come sit and tell him where I want what when we are planting anything. :) I do a little but can only work for about 15 minutes. Our garden at Cranberry Cottage is much bigger but is a wooded garden and also not too difficult. I am rethinking some of my planting and am going to take things from here to the cottage so I can replace a few things.
I keep telling Jos that having a large garden is not good as you get older. I think you only brought that more home to me with your comments. I see us buying an apartment one day instead of a house. It is much easier and a balcony can also be made to look very beautiful.
I really am amazed at your already having summer temperatures. I can see why you have problems with the garden being so dry. Good to hear that you all had a wonderful Easter!
Hugs ~
Heidi
