We waited patiently, toasting the moon, the stars, the mild and pleasant evening. I decorated the gazebo with large paper stars, a scary pumpkin and a gazing ball - signs pointed the way. Come in my dearies - candy bars are waiting - but the little goblins and purple witches were few this year.
The front porch was waiting - very few little tippy toeing ballerinas or pirates stopped by.
Soon it was dark, the evening drew in, little fairies and tiny Tiggers were already home tucked into their beds, pails of sweeties at their sides.
The lights burned on for a while then dimmed - too much candy leftover, too tempting to leave in a bowl..................I'm off to find a hiding place for it.
Hope your Halloween was fun!

Wow! Your front porch looked amazing for Halloween! And the gazebo! I only wish I could have stopped in for a good look and perhaps a cup of tea or mulled cider as I admired the atmosphere. What a shame you did not have many trick or treaters. Are there not a lot of children in your neighborhood? I know my mother says they drive children from other areas to her street since they hold trick or treat on the Sunday before. It means they get almost too busy.
ReplyDeleteToday I will spend my morning taking my Halloween decorations down and redoing my autumn things for November. Will you make many changes for the month of November on your porch and inside your beautiful home?

It's good to see you back again, looking forward to reading all about your travels when you are back on firm ground once more. Your gazebo looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI would have brought my children to your house if we lived in your area! Last night while my son was out trick-o-treating a woman said something very cruel to him that upset him greatly. Your place looks like it would have been a fun place to stop by. So sorry more kids weren't there to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteGreat decorations. We had a warm evening in NH so I had a lot of trick or treaters. Brought the leftover candy to work to get rid of it!
ReplyDeleteWow, can I live in your Gazebo or on the front porch. That is a wonderful house you have.

It's good to see you back Mary! Looks like you had a great hallowe'en.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the photos from your trip and looking forward to more!

Your porch and gazebo look so lovely - I can't believe that they, combined with your nice weather, didn't draw more kids. We hardly had any, but that was typical. Some people get 50-100 kids, we only get a handful.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a lovely evening anyway!
Julie
Yes we had fun. It looks like you had a lot of fun as well.
ReplyDeleteHow great everything looks.
Rosemary
I love the gazebo all lit up - magical looking!
ReplyDeleteNo one has ever come to the house where we live now. I didn't even get to see Kathryn & Nicholas last night - I've been sick with a bad cold.
I have news - we are getting another grandbaby!
Hugs, Deborah
Everything at your house looks so beautifully decorated for Halloween. I'm so sorry the trick-or-treaters weren't out in force and knocking on your door. We didn't have as many as normal this year and we suspect it has a lot to do with it being a school night.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so wonderful dressed up for Halloween :-}
ReplyDeleteAnother great Halloween post!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of your home is beautiful. I miss front porches so much. The garage door opener has changed our lives so much.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit, so I shall return and read some more about you and your talent.
