These pale beauties evade me.................I want some, I dream of them, where are they hiding? Lead me to that pumpkin patch, please. We cottage girls often want something different. After all, shabby chipped paint, rambling pink roses on faded fabric, unpolished silver, creamy china, are sometimes insulted by bright orange pumpkins.

I didn't find any big pale true beauties yet, but a few smaller ones were joyfully discovered this past weekend! They'll keep these two large ones company on my table. They are big and pale, yes. Beautiful, in a way. Real, by no means. Don't tell - from a distance they fool. My seasonal secret.

I too see the little to medium sized pale gourds, squash and pumpkins here. I have never seen a large pumpkin in a pale color. I must admit that I am very traditional when it come to this time of year and I love the deep, rich autumnal colors. I do mix my gourd displays outdoors to bring out the orange better. All orange is too one~sided and becomes boring. Maybe you will find one as your drive to the wedding?

There is an old man here in our village in France that grows allsorts of pumpkins and gourds in every colour and shape you could imagine, he sells them to the villagers and all the money goes to the church, every year I love walking past his barn as when the doors are open he has them all laid out on the floor for everyone to see. I'll try and get a photo next time I'm passing and I'll post it on my blog. I must admit I haven't seen your big white one amongst his collection.

The pale coloured pumpkins are stunning! I don't think we will see too many in our nearby pumpkin patches which are a field of bright orange (and oh so beautiful). Wouldn't the pale blue-ish pumpkin look gorgeous in a cloche.
ReplyDeleteAh, did you paint your little beauty? Love it.
ReplyDeleteI prefer white poinsetta over red, as well.

I just bought a faux one from Michaels cause all I could find are the little baby ones. I like the idea of painting them whatever color you want. Maybe I'll do some red ones(or will they just look like big apples)!

Hi Mary
ReplyDeleteI love the white ones, too. Something so clean and fresh about them. If you live near a Hobby Lobby, they usually have some very pretty ceramic ones in white. We do not have one in our town, but I usually stop to shop at one when I am in another city...so I do not know if they have them this year...but they have the past several.
This year, I found a very pale green one...almost white...faux, but it was so pretty with the white ones.
I love the white pumpkins. I already bought some. They are pretty mixed in with the other decorations.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

I had a blue green pumpkin last year. It sat on the porch hearth. Have not seen one this year. Never saw a large white pumpkin, that I can remember.
ReplyDeleteI love these images!

You have such a marvelous sense of style. You could be a window dresser, set designer, magazine photo stylist...
ReplyDeleteAlso - I loved your sidebar on favorite fall things.

(Just a little commenting and then I am putting my splint back on and going to bed. (I took it off to wash dishes.) Apparently that is the most important time to wear it because most of us sleep "with our hands bent". I did not know that.)

Hi! I saw an abundance of huge white pumpkins when I was driving through Lancaster, Pa. USA last month. I thought I'd wait and get one at home here in Conn. but can't find them anywhere!!!! I am longing for one too!
