Pale Pink Saturday

During last weekend's visit to SuzAnna's Antiques I captured some very pale pink pretties to share with you today.

These delicate, really beautiful rose painted plates ~ inexpensive, but how many plates can I collect when storage is becoming a problem. So I left them just for you!

This unusual wicker chair with pink floral upholstery on seat and back ~ in Jeannie's Uniquitiques booth.

Back at Tracy's Little Shabby Shack, great painted pale pink furniture. Nice dresser with hutch ~ where the rose plates would look divine.......

...........table (on left) with drawer and lower shelf which would be useful just about anywhere. These pieces were a very wispy pink, so pretty. Then the deeper pink shutter on the wall.......love that one!

Now hop on over to How Sweet The Sound to visit with Beverly who has an ever growing list of Pink Saturday blog friends just waiting to share their pink finds. Have a great weekend.

Pink Saturday

aturday.......
here again already!

Where did the last week go?

My plan was to don my apron..........wish it was this pretty pink one in Jeannie's space at SuzAnna's Antiques.........and tackle some much needed household chores. This was to involve pushing the vac, polishing and dusting, and rearranging French objects ~ that last part I enjoy!
Well, didn't do much of any of the above.......watch for my next post showing where I did clean!

After all that Fall cleanup, if I can still put one foot in front of the other, I'll powder my nose, put on some lipstick, grab my Life Is Good bag, and head out for a little treasure hunting here at Tracy's cute as a button tiny pink shop.
You wouldn't believe how much glittery, shiny, shabby chic beauty is squished into this precious, pink barn! Tracy's adorable shop is also located at SuzAnna's Antiques, my favorite place in town.
Have a great Pink Saturday.
Happy Labor Day holiday too..............and be sure to head over to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for lots more pink!

Pink Saturday

This old painted pink door is great for hanging bird houses.

A visit to SuzAnna's Antiques last Saturday give me an opportunity to hunt down pink pretties to share with you.

Looks like an authentic Dutch clog....wonder where its clogging partner could be!

I think pink and yellow are a great combination, especially when they are warm tints of the two shades.

Hope everyone enjoys Pink Saturday, whether casually clogging or dancing the night away in your strappy high heels!! Me, I'll be sitting somewhere comfy, resting my feet....but sipping a glass of pink rose wine!
Now waltz or jitterbug over to see Beverly's list of Pink participants at How Sweet The Sound.

Pink Saturday

If I was to ever paint a room pink I think it would be this pink. Warm, rosy, somewhat intense. A pink you would be surprised by. Not at all wishy washy. Yes, if I was going pink, this would be the right one for me.
This was in one of those large shops with individual booths for rent, most crammed and jammed with stuff. Some owners had just returned from a major Gift Show with the latest 'in things' of the decorating world ~ expensive mass produced merchandise.

But here, in the rosy pink 'room', the owner had tried hard to make a warm, individual space filled with what may have been one of a kind items. My favorites of course were the chandeliers. Elegance and romance personified. Small chandeliers of lovely design. Hanging from the rafters they really sparkled in the pink room and looked quite beautiful.

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday and be sure to visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for a long list of friends who are joining in this week.

Pink Saturday Dollies

Do you remember your childhood dolls?
Guys don't have to answer this question if they were more into Matchbox cars and Tonka trucks.
My dolly was named Elizabeth. Perhaps a little odd because that is my middle name! Elizabeth was quite a large doll and came to live with me one Christmas. My mum, being a dressmaker, had made beautiful clothes for her. I also had a special doll pram for her, complete with rose pink satin pillow and quilted coverlet - gosh wish I still had them to show you for Pink Saturday! When I took Elizabeth out for her daily constitution she certainly went in style!

I was reminded of Elizabeth, and other dollies I loved as a child, when I spied these adorable winsome girls at SuzAnna's Antiques last week. They sat sweetly on top of a cabinet, pink faces slightly crackled, blonde pigtails and kerchiefs, and cute felt vests laced over their puffed sleeved blouses. Their skirts were quite contemporary prints. Their felt legs and boots made me smile.
Have you ever seen dolls like this?
Perhaps they are handcrafted and one-of-a-kind.
They remind me of Heidi, the Swiss character of the book.
I think they are just adorable........and, if I was not into simplifying, I would have to start a collection for sure!

Heidi and Gretel perhaps - where's Hansel?

This gal grabbed the only tiny chair available.

I'm trying to make excuses not to go back and buy them....if still there!

Pink Saturday again - don't the weeks seem to fly by fast?
Beverly at How Sweet the Sound will have a long list of pink players again today - be sure to stop over and join the fun.

Pink Saturday

Thoughts of pink~~~~~~~~~~~
Even during these freezing cold January days I have thoughts of my favorite Spring flower. When I flip this switch with the pretty pink tulip switch plate, the dining room is brightly illuminated by the chandelier over the table.

Looking about I see some touches of pink such as the pots I enjoy decoupaging...........

.................and the vintage window with more pink blossoms.

Can you tell I love pink tulips? I even plant them in the garden, my favorite being Pink Impression, a Darwin tulip with a huge deep pink cup, long-lasting bloom, with sturdy stems that hold up in Springtime breezes. I love them with Queen of the Night, the dark purple tulip closest to black ~ will show you some come Spring!
Hope this will be a great Pink Saturday in your town. Even here in central North Carolina we are now experiencing some very low temperatures ~ you will be assured of pink cheeks if you step outside!
Hurry on over see our hostess Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and get a warm pink feeling by visiting both old and new friends.

Pink Saturday

Just when I thought I was all 'pinked out' I took a trip over to SuzAnna's Antiques to hunt among the displays for more precious pink treasures. First I hung about outside looking for something to photograph..............and there he was, not pink but grey. Pink and grey look good together! Anyway, hanging out playing with a purring kitty gave me time to look about and find........................

..........these Pepto pink garden chairs looking really snazzy up against the purple door......

...........some pink frames, a pink watering can, pink rush seat chair, and a great pink screen door with a heron.

The kitty was soon chased off by a tiny Yorkie named Charlie who's person, Tracy, has a room full of gorgeous things for sale at SuzAnna's, see some of them in my recent post here. So I went inside and found a pretty pink smocked and embroidered frock for a toddler princess, a pink lined china shell................

.........more pink china with painted roses, glasses and glass plates..........

..........and this pink framed teddy named Tim who would be
so cute in a little girl's bedroom.

It seems there's always something pink tucked away some place, so head on over to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and see her list of Pink Saturday friends - bet they've all found something pretty to share.

Enjoy your first weekend of the new year.

Christmas Pink Saturday

As I look around the house at my Christmas treasures I don't see much PINK.
However, there is a glorious old European looking Saint Nicholas who refuses to wear red Father Christmas robes....................so I'll share him with you on this Pink Saturday!

O0ops, almost missed this touch of pink. Pretty pink velvet roses adorn a garland wrapped around my cherub on the dining room table.

Same old guy.................he refuses to stay in one place very long, likes to view Christmas in the cottage from different angles.

How's your decorating going? Bet you're all done, sitting back,
and truly loving it now all the work is completed!
Enjoy Pink Saturday and be sure to visit Beverly our hostess
at How Sweet The Sound to see a lot more Christmas Pink.

Wet Pink Saturday

Vanessa of Vanilla Lavender and I spent a quick visit to SuzAnna's Antiques on Wednesday. Why quick you wonder knowing how we love that place? Well, while our backs were turned for a few minutes, looking at the latest treasures, her adorable daughter Luna decided to test the water ~ very cold water ~ of the courtyard fountain! She required a complete emergency wardrobe change!
What some gals will do to get a new outfit!!
As luck would have it, and because a handsome little boy named Kyle allowed Luna to climb in the fountain first (such a gentleman at 4 years of age), friend Jenny, Kyle's mommy, came to the rescue with a pair of the cutest Christmas jammies which she just happened to have in a bag headed for the charity shop.
You know what they say, "charity begins at home", or in this case in a friend's car trunk!
Don't ask where the pics are ~ we were so concerned that Luna would get a chill, and she, poor angel, was rather embarrassed when we started stripping off her clothes in the courtyard surrounded by antique Santas, vintage wagons and towering Christmas trees................I forgot to take any!

While browsing through SuzAnna's, before Luna's desire to be a water baby had us scurrying for towels and such, I spotted a few pink things to share today.
Pink painted furniture and lovely plates with roses and patterned edges.

If you read my November 28 post you will know about Jeannie - owner of the fun cottage shop Uniquitiques in Hillsboro, NC. Her space at SuzAnna's is always fabulous and French! Here's her famous pink Tour Eiffel tag.
Although the English smocking doesn't show up well in this picture, it is a sweet little girl's frock of the softest baby pink.
Perhaps Luna would have preferred it to Kyle's outgrown jammies, however it wouldn't have been as warm after that chilly swim!

Rhinestone trimmed pink perfume bottles ~ very pink chippy paint shelves.

Pink Saturday

A girl should be two things, classy and fabulous.............Coco Chanel

Because this granddaughter often spends time with me I have taken hundreds of photos of her since she was a baby. Here, in a downtown restaurant located in the old newspaper offices, I loved the background colors of the pink peeling plaster walls and woodwork, her pale pink French jersey, the curls escaping from her pulled back hair. Definitely 'pretty in pink'.

Visit Beverly, our great Pink Saturday hostess, at How Sweet the Sound for the list of friends displaying everything pink today. I've missed a lot of Pink Saturdays while away in France - glad to be back - and of course will have some French Pink to show in the weeks to come!

Pink Saturday

Pull up a chair and sit a while.....................it's Saturday, PINK Saturday. Your week has been busy, perhaps hectic, possibly chaotic. For many of you it required getting the children back to school after the long Summer vacation. Are you breathing again? Are you happy they're gone from under your feet for a while? Or are you worried because they're no longer within earshot and view all those hours of each school day? I hope all the children will have a great school year.

Truly a 'shabby chic' chair from SuzAnna's Antiques
While you're taking a breather why not have fun filling out a "happiness card"..........................

Pink Saturday

Blooms in the garden are few now ~ the torrid heat and almost non-existent rain have wreaked havoc....................Nature struggles to put forth anything fresh, new or colorful these past few weeks. But I do love green! When permitted we water. Still restricted to a few hours a week but this does enable the many shades of green, from chartreuse to hunter, to fill in the bare spaces.

But this is PINK SATURDAY so I had to find something pretty and PINK. Here is the Mandevilla vine making its way up the gazebo and blooming in the heat because it's tropical.

The flowers start out pointed, somewhat like a Morning Glory bud, then slowly unfold and open in their stunning pinkness, surrounded by a backdrop of thick, leathery, dark green leaves.

The Mandevilla is an annual here so I plant a new one each year after the last frost ~ must have something pink throughout the long, hot Summer.

Be sure to visit Beverly at How Sweet The Sound our Pink Saturday hostess. There you will find the list of this week's participants and I'm certain many of them are surrounded by every shade of pink imaginable!

Pink Saturday

"Come quickly Grandma, there's a visitor on the front doormat and I've taken a photo for you".
It had not flown into the glass storm door, thank goodness. This little fledgling was just visiting with its Daddy, a handsome tri-color Eastern Towhee, who was giving lessons on how to find food and take a drink from the fountain.

And look at this Dad.....................packing up the car to take the entire family on a Summer road trip in that big old gas guzzler................bet those were the days of 29 cents a gallon gas!

Hopefully that Mom will soon be out of that ladylike dress with the Peter Pan collar, and into her nifty swimming costume to join these gals who certainly seem to enjoy the beach.
