Who were they? The people in these vintage family photos from long ago. Family outings and reunions in front of country houses; chubby faced babies; pretty girls in white dresses; little boys in Sunday suits........

............mamas and papas with serious faces; grandparents staid and starched; sweet young things in Summer dresses and straw hats.
Don't you wonder how
our family photos will be viewed in years to come? Sad to think that technology has changed everything. We will not be be sepia toned on sturdy card stock with deckle edges and hand inked borders. Instead someone will type in a password to pull us up in full color on a bright screen. They will not hold us in their hand wondering which family member we were.
Don't you love how Susie, Jenny and the creative gals at
SuzAnna's Antiques have displayed this great array of old family photos?
Yesterday was
Susie's birthday.
Vanessa was back from Brazil,
Anna, armed with her own chainsaw (brave woman!) to help a friend chop down a tree, and yours truly, just had to accept
Jenny's invitation to stop by the shop to celebrate with cupcakes and great company.......and we were gifted too. $5.00 off anything in the shop coupons so you know we had to buy something - show you later!
I love sooooo much to take photos of almost everything, and my digital camera is always with me. But the most pretty ones and the ones of my dears, well, I make them print so I can handle them, I like doing this.

Good morning Mary,
ReplyDeleteLove the shabby distressed chaise with the photographs attached, I always enjoy visiting this store with you.
Have a great week.

Hello Mary! I love looking at old photos, and yes, it will be sad if they have to see ours with a password!! Even if you have photos printed to share with others they put it on such lousy paper these days it's a wonder they even survive for a year!! However, I did find someone close by who restores old photos, and it is simply amazing! Plus he prints it on paper and uses ink that as he said will last another 100 years! He took an old photo that my mom had of her father that is 110 years old from when he was a baby. I'm glad that there are still people who can do that even if it was with help from the computer!
ReplyDeleteTake Care!

I love that display of photos. You are so right about the future generations. How far we have come in our generation alone!
ReplyDeleteThe display of photos is so very cool, Mary. I suppose we have to accept the fact that we won't look as they did in the old days (although we can take pictures in sepia!) but at least we can enjoy the photos. Love how they are displayed at the shop.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day celebrating!

Saturday was such a great day! Mom said it was one of her best birthdays ever!! Thank you for helping to make it so special!
ReplyDeleteMary, now you have my curiosity up. I want to see what you took home from this wonderful shop. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteLove the way she displayed the pictures. And I love shuffling through old pictures and postcards. I always look for pictures that has something to do with tea. It is a fun challenge and I get entertained at the same time.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the display! And yes, it's sad but true about 'clicking' on a photo instead of holding it in your hands and feeling the electricity of people from the past...ah, such is progress!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteOh goodness - what a wonderful dispaly of old photographs - charming. There is something very special about the look and feel of old photos.
Sounds like you are going to have fun shopping and eating cupcakes with the girls at Suzanna's Antiques - the last (and only) time I used a chainsaw to "chop" something down was quite an adventure and not as easy as it looks.
Have fun.
Blessings,
Erin
Those family photos look so much like my own family, that I had to zoom in and look VERY closely. Obviously, the names don't match, but they look so close!
