...............a week can make. Especially in the garden.
Some day, before Spring, they will be pruned......these big, dried heads of the 'mophead' Hydrangeas disguising themselves as snowballs ~ a phenomenon in the South.
Then hopefully they will slowly bud. Those fat buds will burst into new lime green blooms. Then around May they will sing the blues and stay to share their loveliness until Fall when the cycle will continue.
One of my very favorite shrubs, the Hydrangea Macrophylla ~ 'Endless Summer'.

ReplyDeleteAll my best,
Jane
Today is sunny and lovely in this part of NC too. But tomorrow I hear we may have ice storms or snow....
ReplyDeleteThis year I plan on planting some Hydrangeas. I love them, and have none!
60 degrees! Oh how envious I am. Maine is expecting another storm on Tuesday. I'm about "stormed" out. Enjoy that glorious weather.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blogsite this week: it is beautiful. Where do you find the time??
ReplyDeleteI live in Michigan, but I was born in Looe. My mother was born in Horrabridge. She loved Devon.
I look forward to following your lovely blog.
We were coming out of church today in the slushy snow and saying, I have faith, Spring will come.
ReplyDeleteHope so.
Nancy
Hydrangeas are one of my favorites too. You know that it is spring when those beautiful blooms burst forth:)
ReplyDeleteJust WHO doesn't love the thought of approaching Spring ???? Your photos are the harbinger of what is to come .......
ReplyDeleteOh, Mary, I know! The weather was so pretty today. I spent a couple of hours in my garden, just admiring, doing a few little things. It felt so good! I was careful, as I know we're in for more winter weather before it's over. It's so hard to refrain myself though!
