The Old Ways

Just two weeks from today I'll be on my way to the South of France via England - crossing the pond to both my true home, then on to where my family lives now, in this small village in the Minervois near the beautiful walled city of Carcassonne.

Arriving in the village.

It's always great to return to the place where you were raised, for me that was England. The memories flood back, you feel that sense of belonging even though you've been gone for years. It's also really special to have another place to visit where you feel surrounded by the love only given by your family. How fortunate I am to have this opportunity.

Village street.

The vineyards surrounding the village in Autumn.

If possible, I'll post again before leaving. On my return I hope to have photos of the many places I visit while in France - may even try to post some along the way! Thanks for all the good wishes from those of you who know where I'm going. I wish you could all come along and enjoy time in this lovely part of Europe. My wish for you is that you can take such a trip sometime in the near future.

  6. Mary,

I know that you will have a fabulous time with your family in such lovely places. Be safe, have fun and regale us with the pictures and tales of your adventures when you return. I am truly envious.

PS. Do you need someone to housesit your fabulous cottage while you are gone? That would be a great consolation prize.

  10. Again, have a great time with your brother and family in France! I am reading a book called Labyrinth by Kate Mosse now. I am close to the end and finding out what has happened to the charachter back in the time of the Cathers. Have you ever read this book? At times, I wanted to put it down. The descriptions of the plight of these people is disturbing.

Be safe and enjoy each and every moment there!

    Hugs ~

  12. Have wonderful time Mary! I had a lovely March break in Carcassonne this year and my husband and I really loved driving through the beautiful countryside on the lovely quiet roads (so different to England!!)
I'm trying to work out if I recognise the village - we visited a few while we were there (really loved Mirepoix and its beautiful market square).
Can't wait to see your photos.

  14. Mary, darn I just lost a long post and now I will try again. I am so happy you will be going on your wonderful trip with Jasmin. How are the French lessons coming along? Home will always England in your heart. France is where you and Jasmin can practice your new language. Smile.

I'm sorry I have missed visiting you a few days. My cousin is here and they do not do computers. I have been limiting my time on the computer so they won't feel left out. Sigh.

I hope you are caught up with packing etc.

    Hugs...Jeanne

  21. Oh Mary....how very wonderful for you!!! I've decided that's a GREAT idea....take a bunch of clothes that you really don't care for, and just ditch them all but the outfit to wear home and bring home tons of French treasures!!!! I would probably love their trash ~ hope you have a wonderful trip!!! xxoo, Dawn
