Falling into Fall

To Autumn
Seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness!
.............J. Keats.............

With just over a week to go before leaving for France, I'm grabbing every little moment of 'almost Autumn' here in the Southeastern US. My favorite season............with the evenings closing in earlier, the mornings fresh and slightly misty as the sun peeks through. On Friday I felt a breeze as I left the grocery store and stood in the parking lot watching puffy cloud formations skid across a Carolina blue sky. At last, the air felt clean again and I felt energized.

Dancing on an Autumn breeze.

The goldfinch on a thistle head

Stood scattering seedlets as she fed,

The wrens their pretty gossip spread,

Or joined the random roundelay.

  2. You captured it well, Mary. I felt that same breeze as I was leaving the grocery store, and I remarked to someone walking by to notice how wonderful it was.

I just finished my autumn display in the our front yard. Ah, autumn!

  5. We don't have this same hot, humid summers as you have, so we don't need autumn for fresh air, but I agree, it is a lovely season. We have been mountain hiking today and it was just perfect.

  9. 'Close bosom friend to the maturing sun..' These are lovely pics of the colours of autumn. I am sure by now you are so excited about the trip abroad. It is my turn to be envious! I hope you are fit and well and that your walking shoes have comformed comfortably to your feet - all ready for country walks and outdoor markets.
'Where are the songs of spring? Ay wher are they?' They are being sun right here in Pretoria where the flowering trees and shrubs are a sight! Bond voyage and lots of love Eleanor

  15. Love your urns! What is it about fall that energizes us so? I get so sluggish in the summer and when those cool fall breezes start I suddenly get motivated! :)

  16. Mary, here I am again late at night making comments. We had another full day with my cousin. We do have fun and having her here is a blessing, as well as her husband. They cooked supper while I napped. I guess that's why I am still awake. LOL.

I think that pumpkin looks great in the urn, as well as the pumpkin with the flowers. The tea cup is so cute on the cabinet. I love that piece with the ballerina's.

England and France are just around the corner. Oh joy!

    Hugs...Jeanne
