Garden Glories

This is not my Pink Saturday post coming to you early - there will be one on Saturday as promised - however on yesterday's walk through the garden I enjoyed seeing so many pink blooms.

The mailbox bed is thriving right now in the full sun exposure. The potato vine is running rampant and may be crossing the cul-de-sac in a few more weeks unless I prune! Petunias in pink and purple, pale yellow daylilies all blooming.

The Mandevilla vine is making it's Summer climb up the gazebo.

My favorite pink geraniums in large pots along the path to the front steps of the cottage.

This week the beautiful Stargazer lilies opened - they are in pots to protect their fragile bulbs which often become dinner for the pesky voles!

The new butterfly bush by the back fence is growing rapidly - I thought it was a purple one but it decided to be pink - fine with me and the butterflies.

........and this little sweet flower means Summer eating of the best kind. This is the blossom on the French Haricot Verts - green beans extraordinaire. I spied the first few beans so perhaps a meal is imminent!

Hope you enjoyed sharing the garden update. We still struggle with watering issues here - hauling hoses and watering cans is permitted just two days a week for a couple of hours due to the drought - but it's really worth the effort, sore backs and painful shoulders, when the blossoms nod in the early morning sun to welcome bees, birds and butterflies on another hot day.

I have a few flowers in my yard, but none compare to yours. All are very beautiful. Enjoy your day, whatever you plan to do.

  2. Ah, wish we had more sun here!

  3. We have water restrictions here every year, so I feel your pain. Hand held hoses a couple of days a week are the norm and unfortunately the rain we have had is of the violent variety that dumps an inch in a few minutes and it runs off (along with some soil) very quickly. We need some nice gentle rain to make the gardens happy!

  6. Mary, you do have a lot of pink blooms for us today, and they are lovely.

We watered the rose beds in our back yard during our watering hours yesterday. We will try to water a bit more Saturday.

I have not seen a pink butterfly bush. I could be tempted.

  7. Your pink stargazer lilies are gorgeous Mary. There is a garden we pass on our walks with Ben that have the same beautiful pink lilies in bloom. Our yellow lilies bloomed today :-}

  8. Your garden is in the pink of summer and looking just beautiful to spite the heat. Mine looks nowhere near as nice with nowhere near the heat. I hope it is not going to be too hot over the holiday? And Jasmin is home with you again now?

I am sitting here doing a few blogs before bedtime. I have my blog on to listen to all the Mary Poppins songs. :) Fun to hear them all. I am heading to Cranberry Cottage early tomorrow morning. Jos has been in Germany all this week and I convinced him to just drive straight up north instead of coming home first. I am planning a stop at a wonderful shop on the way as a little diversion. It will have to be a quick stop with Dagi in the car.

I wanted to be sure to stop in and wish Bob a joyous birthday celebration this weekend! I hope he has a wonderful day no matter how you celebrate it.

Have a Happy 4th of July and great weekend dear Mary!

    Hugs ~
