Remember the blue cake plate I showed you recently - well there it was on my return last week, still waiting for a place in some old English gal's home where she can display her "fancy cakes" at tea time. It's Royal Albert's Enchantment (love that word) pattern, dated 1950 - but in perfect condition.
While visiting my fave treasure place again (twice in one week - and they're only open 4 days, Thurs-Sun.) I found these "must haves". Another neat painted sign - I adore anything made from LINEN - tablecloths, napkins, placemats, clothes...............and someday, when I come across affordable ones, I really want a set of linen sheets, ooooh! I hear they're fabulous!
The unusual painted drawer, from an old dresser perhaps, curved on one side with a lovely curved handle (I lined it with wallpaper) is now holding rubber stamping inks and embossing powders - just a different container for ordinary items.
This sweet creamy white compote dish caught my eye and I'll find many different uses for it - again in perfect condition.
Before leaving SuzAnna's I snapped a few more pics of interesting treasures - I couldn't bring them all home unfortunately, but hopefully someone else did.
And lastly, that fabulous tin roofed BIG bird feeder I really want - will it ever go on sale? Of course it would also be a squirrel feeder if filled with seed I guess. I just love the way it looks and could use it on my outdoor table to hold condiments - when it's cool enough to eat outside again!
I want to go shopping with you! What a awesome place to shop. I would never have any money left after shopping there!
ReplyDeleteOh I really like that umbrella idea. I have netting hanging from my canopy off my kitchen. It's surprising how much it helps with bugs. I'll have to drape my umbrella now. That shop looks like such a fun place. I always wanted a cute little tub hidden away in the backyard too.

What a wonderful treasure trove you have with this shop! I can see why it is a favourite of yours...wish I lived near by :-}
ReplyDeleteHere is a Peg who also wants to go shopping with you. When I saw the compote dish, and since it is fall like here just now, I thought of it filled with the winter compote I make! It is beautiful, and like you, I love white bowls, dishes, etc.
ReplyDeleteI hope it cools off soon!
I wish this place was nearer to me, it looks fabulous. I love that LINEN sign as I, too, love linens and would have wanted to buy the sign. I like the drawer to use for storage too, I seem to go for anything that's a bit quirky or different.
ReplyDeleteI love the cake plate. When I think how we jsut go rid of all that kind of stuff that belonged to my Grandmother. That was before people started taking an interest in "vintage"
ReplyDeleteWow, those are some great things...they're all things I love, blue, white and linen!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. Nothing like it here as far as a shop but there are brochantes. I am going to one today hoping to find some treasures like you did.
ReplyDeleteOh, Mary, I love your finds, that linen sign is so unique & the white compote is beautiful (I need one of those for my creamware collection). You found some great treasures & that looks like a fun place to browse. I know I would love it too!

You have a fortune here in old treasures. I like the photography too. I actually came to thank you for visiting my blog and for commenting there about my nature photography. I am so happy you like it.
ReplyDeleteWe had a mother raccoon here but she wasn't a mother at the time we saw her. A young gal. THen one day we have her and four babies. And when they were weaned they left. Or rather we left and they left over the fence. Sad. Really sad. There is a story behind that on the blog too. I don't suppose you saw it in the archive.
I also have a website where a series of photos are displayed. I am working on that.
Both links are here. You were at the Brookville Daily Photo site.

I love that cake plate, Mary! I also love the old drawer. Is it a sewing machine drawer?
ReplyDeleteThe little cake plate would be a perfect match for my favorite teacup, pictured on my July posts! Mine is by Ainsley. I would have done cartwheels over that one!

Some really pretty things there. I can spend hours in shops like that. Found your blog through a link in another blog. I'm from Australia.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your posts - so glad you made that cake - it's unexpectedly fab! I saved the recipe from Womans Own magazine from 2005. I just checked the date on the page pullout. Also I have to report the fish and chips were fabulous - they are from an award winning shop near us. People travel from miles to get a take away from it. I'll post a pic later for you to drool over!
Have a nice Monday!

ReplyDeleteNeat umbrella idea!

What a neat place! I'd love to have that tub. I have just the right spot for it in my garden. That blue plate is lovely - I just love that shade of blue!

Love to stop by for a visit. It's like shopping without spending! Enjoy all of your postings and photos!

Mary, you found some wonderful goodies! I really like that blue plate a lot - such a pretty color. Antiquing is so fun, one of my favorite things to do - especially when you have a favorite place with such wonderful things that fit in with your style.
