I jumped from the car, scissors in hand, cut the tall Queen Anne's Lace, the tiny white daisies. Just white and green weeds at the side of the road................but so very lovely.
I like them here on the front porch by the entry door.
Reflected in an old French mirror.
The colors are clean, fresh.
A multitude of small delights constitutes happiness.
Hello I,m cottonreel,I have looked at your blog before and possibly left a comment. On a cold rainy day here in middle England your pictures warm the heart, whenever I have put wild flowers in water they flop very quickly. That beautiful stone wall with the blue gate, the colour of Cyprus and Greece.and those gorgeous views .Your blog has gladdened my heart this Sunday morning . I,m going to tell friends to visit--cottonreel
so nice you stopped by my blog bec/ now I have found yours- yours is blissful, peaceful and I love this collection of wild flowers- I too ,have fantasized about leaping from the car to snip off a bunch of blazing poppies or broom for the house... and will now carry my scissors in the car just ! thanks for the inspiration-have a super day!
Mary, Mary ... I had to come back! Scrolled down to the very bottom of your blog page and saw "Home Is Where Your Story Begins" .... I just purchased that adorable piece for my son and his bride-to-be. What a treat to see it here!!!
That is precisely why I never roam anywhere without clippers in my car or purse. Wildfloweres are just the best and in fall the bittersweet and at Christmas the greens that are begging for a trim! Janet
Hello Mary! Thanks so much for your visit and comment! I love Queen Anne's Lace because it reminds me of my sweet grandmother who always used to pick some and bring it over to our house.
I was over your way this afternoon at a graduation party for my nephew. And, I saw lots of Queen Anne's Lace on the way to our sons, and I really wanted to stop. But, the traffic was too bad.
Mary, I'm giggling at the thought of you jumping out with scissors in hand - how cute! Love the flowers, especially as they refelct off of that gorgeous mirror!!! Hugs, Rose
Beautiful! I've found that Queen Anne's Lace attracts ANTS! Learned that the hard way! I still love them and hope to get some started in my new mailbox garden! You have a lovely blog!

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the mirror. I saw it before on someone's blog. I love QA lace. I have to go into the farm lands to find it now.

What special "small delights". I keep scissors in my car just for picking wildflowers. Yours are a treasure.

And a beautiful bouquet it is!! I need to see if our "lace" by the creek is blooming. I haven't seen as much beside the road this year.
ReplyDeleteI've done this! Many years ago, we were helping to decorate for Larry's cousin's wedding. We cut many a Queen Anne's Lace from the roadside.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be heading for Roanoke Thursday. Our baby Andrew will be one year old this weekend!
Love you,
Deborah
BTW, did you see Smitten by Britain's link to the best teas in England piece? They are starting with Devon and Cornwall, naturally. Love it.
ReplyDeleteMary, I just love these! So pretty, would make anyone smile when they entered your front door.
