...............now that Autumn is almost knocking at the door. Thoughts of finding some great books to read are on my mind. There are several blog friends sharing titles and reviews of both new and older books. Many sound interesting. Sweet friend Jenny, co-owner of SuzAnna's Antiques, recently posted the list of 100 Books. Many I have read, the remainder I should.

How do you choose what to read when snuggled in your favorite chair on a chilly afternoon, or tucked in bed when the wind is whistling around the darkened windows?

Ahh..a good book.. to be ready anywhere, anytime. Wonderful. I love the image you posted :-)And Razzy & Walter? Too adorable!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary
ReplyDeleteThat is so wonderful that your brother was safe on 911. There must be so many hundreds of stories of how people survived that day.
In answer to your question about books, I write down books people recommend and then I look for them in our library online. One of the blogs I enjoy is trying to read 100 books this year and she has a list too. http://onceinabluemooniris.blogspot.com/ I think you'd enjoy her blog. She also posts about good food.
Hope you have a fun Saturday.

Hi Mary, I tend to pick books by the same authors. Once I read one I look and see what else they wrote and go for them. Dan Brown, Ken Follette. John Grisham. I belong to a library book discussion club and have some of the most wonderful books I would have never picked up. We have a list and vote on the one we want to read next. One of my favorites was Bel Conto, can't remember the name. Will be gone a few days.

What a great post!! hehehe!!I printed out the list so whenever I am in Goodwill or some of the local thrift stores I can look for the other books I have not read! Usually I fall back on my old favorites...Gone with the Wind, Mists of Avalon, The Cat in the Hat!! ;>)

Hello,
ReplyDeleteEven though I am not participating (as I missed the deadline yet again), I am doing an organic visit to wish my friends old and new, Happy Pink Saturday (or just hullo if you're not a PS person)!
What's an organic visit'? It's one that takes a natural course through an almost viral form. I'm visiting people YOU have had visit, and then visiting people they have had visit, and so on! Great way to reach out and talk to people.
Your post was delightful, it's a book kind of day here -

Good question. How do I select a book? Sometimes it is an author that I have already enjoyed or an intriguing title. It might be on the best seller list or a friend recommends. I recently re-read A Year in Provence, just because I am getting ready for travel there. Or I read Simple Abundance or another book for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see your list. I am sure there would be books on it that I would love to read.
Such a lovely image of the vintage books all wrapped up in velvet ribbon! I have a pile of books on top of a vintage radio and a basket of afghans just waiting for evening reads now that the nights are cooler and drawing in :-)I know you are a vegetarian too and was wondering if you recommend any good vegetarian/vegan cookbooks. Thanks, Deb ♥
ReplyDeleteOf course I get many book recommendations from my friends. I have also gotten some good choices from Cornflower's blog.
ReplyDeleteHello Mary, I love to read a good book but I confess to reading less since I started blogging. I have just finished two books by Mary Kay Anderson. She is a fun read. I usually get book references by my family and friends. Then I look for them at the library. Our library is awesome for such a small town.
ReplyDeleteYour vintage books look so great with the ribbon. Mary, you have the best ideas for decorating.
Come over, I am having a giveaway. I think you will like it.
Love and hugs, Jeanne
I have just been gathering a TON of books! I've decided I'm getting ready to hibernate! hehe!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reading!
Hugs, Lisa
