More necessary cleaning. The past week was perfect.....weather wise. A cool front crossed our area knocking the temperatures back to the 70's. It hasn't been this cool since Spring! The early mornings have been refreshing. By noon the sun, lower in the sky, casts hard dappled shadows from the trees around the garden.
Realizing some lovely outdoor days were approaching, DH and I spent several hours cleaning, first the potting shed, and then the gazebo. Amazing how much the spiders love to spin their webs and lay their eggs in shady corners, and under the wrought iron chairs. Even with screens they can easily make their way inside. We dragged out the furniture and cushions, hosed them off, wiped them down, and set them in the sun to dry. The pillows were stripped of their toile covers which were thrown in the washer/dryer with a little bleach.

As evening fell, when everything was sparkly clean and dry, we sat in the gazebo, enjoying a delicious meal cooked on the grill. As the sun went down and the evening shadows crept across the house...............we felt the freshness of Autumn in the air.
Do you enjoy dining outside at home?

Some beautiful pictures. Yes it is that time again and the weather is perfect. We had better grab it while we can. Have a good week.

Sounds like a lovely way to spend the evening after all your hard work!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect day and evening. I love dining al fresco. We do it as often as we can. We are already thinking of how we can create a wonderful outside dining space at our new home.
ReplyDeleteYour gazebo is lovely.
Hugs,
Penny
I love to dine outdoors, I posted last week of a date in the garden with my guy! And I am so enjoying your blog. We have so much in common and much of the same taste. The weather here has been gorgeous 85 no humidity and sunny cooling down to a snuggling 48 at night, reminding us that old man winter is just around the corner. We will be re-doing our front porch next year so I love to look at what others have done. Have a blessed week. Meg
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteI love eating outside - I think that's why I love Florida. I open the sliders and outside is inside! I even have special dishes for outside! It is getting cooler here in Maine and I am getting ready for Florida!

Hi Mary:
ReplyDeleteI have tried several times to comment on your blog and couldn't get it to work. Finally today it did, so far.
I love your beautiful porch and gazebo. I bet it was so peaceful having your meal there. Nothing like a screened area. Wish I had one.
You are very ambitious doing all your cleaning.
Hope you have a good holiday.
Nancy
Enjoy your time outside! It is lovely here!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
Your meal in the gazebo sounded so good. Thanks for sharing! The dappled sunlight is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe love to eat outside on warm evenings. Sitting under the shade of the trees and enjoying the peaceful moments before it is too cold. I can already feel the morning and evening cooler air.
Don't you just love these cooler days? We eat out on the deck every chance we get, even as it gets cooler and cooler. Food just tastes better outside, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteLove eating outside.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden photos.

Autumn is coming hard and fast here but since it is my favorite season...I don't mind. I would love eating in your gazebo. I enjoy eating outside but not using a BBQ. Funny as I grew up with us doing it. I love to cook so much and BBQing is not cooking to me. I hope you had a lovely meal that night?

I think of your lovely gazebo now and then, when I'm sitting on the steps of my deck in the back garden and dreaming about what could be done with it all...and wishing for such a gazebo!
