Whew, that was a job...............and he was my salvation! Thanks dh for working side by side for almost two entire days as we spread the ten cubic yards of cypress chips! That old wheel barrow was filled so many times we lost count. Here you can see just a small portion of the mountain dumped on the driveway Friday morning. As dh loaded and transported, I raked and smoothed. Luckily my recently healed shoulder didn't hurt from all the raking. Have to admit the old back needed some TLC by Sat. night.............and yesterday afternoon I relaxed in a massage chair while a sweet lady gave me a fabulous pedicure.
Well, I am worth it, aren't I?

Mary, everytime I see your back yard, I feel so relaxed. Absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't started the mulching this year. I was hoping J would let our friend who does the mowing, when he's out of commission, do the mulch thing. J mowed, for the first time since surgery, today, so Ronnie mowing then mulching as long as he's here, is out of the question, I suppose. Our neighbors are mulching now..sure makes our gardens look puny! Guess we had better put mulch on our things to do list.

Ahhhh and now you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor for sure. What a wonderful job you both did, and yes of course you deserve the pedicure indeed!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Rose
Whew !! Mary , that wore me out just reading about all that hard work , hehehehehe ! It looks GREAT.
ReplyDeleteYou bet you deserved that pedicure and a lot more. Well done! Your garden retreat is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteWould you and Bob be for hire?? I need your expertise in gardening. If my backyard looked half as good as yours,I would be so happy!!
You and dh did a whole lot of hauling mulch in the past couple of days.I would still be at it if I had that huge pile to conquer.
You are also fortunate to have such a good hubby to help you too.And to be interested in working out in the yard.Mine fusses about having to mow around anything out in the yard.
I am so looking forward to seeing your beautiful yard again.looks just like some of the garden centers I have seen here lately.
You and hubby both deserved a much needed rest now.
Mary & DH,
ReplyDeleteThat is a tremendous amount of work, but look at the lovely results!
You have created a beautiful garden. I would love to sit on the bench with a cup of morning coffee and watch the garden "wake up"!
Chris
Your yard/garden looks so pretty, and inviting.

Mary, I declare you the gardening queen. You both did a great job, and the benefit to your lawn is long lasting.
ReplyDeleteI love the way fresh mulch makes everything look so clean.
Almost snap! We've just had 7 ton of gravel delivered, for Terry to put down in various areas of the garden..he's really looking forward to doing it!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLovely pics as always, Mary. Sal
That was one huge job to tackle! Did Bob's back hold up too? It does really show something for all your hard work though as the yard look simply wonderful. I agree it makes the grass and bedding stand out more. Now you can hopefully sit and relax with enjoyment at all your hard labour. Pour yourself a cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteMy gardener told me when we planted up the first of our wisteria that it will flower in its third summer or it will not flower at all. He was right with ours as our third summer reaped rewards. We now have three wisteria and two flower beautifully while one simply adds it foilage.
I am anxious to see what work has been done in your front garden now. Curiousity makes this cat meow loudly. LOL!
Happy Wednesday dear Mary!
Hugs ~
Heidi
How lovely! I do like your pretty summer house.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have that English feel to the garden.
ReplyDeleteI love the 5th photo down in particular--reminds me of garden squares in London. Simply lovely.
