We were up bright and early this morning...........things were happening around the cottage which was washed with heavy rain last night. The garden looks fresh and shiny clean, the plants and shrubs have gulped down gallons of the 'good stuff' that only comes in the form of Nature's own elixir, water from the heavens!
But on to the fun stuff as promised................as dh sipped his big morning mug of coffee, and our granddaughter Jasmin woofed down oatmeal and waffles (she spent the night here), I presented my trusty garden hat filled with the names of those of you who entered the giveaway to celebrate my 300th post. Jasmin of course got to do the honors.
Drum roll please...........and the winner of this neat book is JANET at Housepeepers . If you don't know Janet be sure to visit her, she will have you laughing instantly!
Congratulations Janet - please e-mail me with your mailing address (and full name) - I'll get the book in the post next week.
After all that excitement, a huge truck arrived bearing the ten - yes 10 - cubic yards of cypress playground chips we'd ordered. They promised "the small truck" because we have trees overhanging the driveway and we dislike the free trimming a big truck does. Guess someone goofed there! Anyway, they were unloaded at the top of the driveway and the guy drove off with twigs and leaves waving from his truck - only one rather large branch was broken off thank goodness. Here's Jasmin getting ready to leave for school - you can see just a small portion of the chips.........................so guess what dh and I are doing now? More on that later.
Many thanks for taking time to enter the giveaway and for leaving your very kind comments. I enjoy sharing many aspects of my life with each of you. I hope to keep my blog interesting so you will return often - that way I, in turn, get to visit with you in so many exciting and beautiful places around the world.

Take care of your back! That looks like a lot of work. Can't wait to see what project you've got up your sleeve .....or do you need that many to top dress your existing beds?
ReplyDeleteHope the sun is shining where you are!
((hugs)) Rosie
Congratulations to Janet - I love Housepeepers. And, thank you to you, Mary. This was such a thoughtful thing for you to do.
ReplyDeleteI would love to meet you one day when I have off work. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen often unless my husband and I plan time off together. This is the beginning of our busy time of year, and lasts until about September. So, please bear with me - I'll make it one day. I know that Jeanne would love to get together sometime when she is here, too.
Don't work too hard, and more importantly don't hurt yourself.
Yikes! That is a mountain of chips. You and Bob take care not to overdo things. I now have a picture of you Mary creating a playground for herself in her yard with an adult version of a swing and slide. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe decided to stay home this weekend and I am really sad we did. I long to be at the cottage and not here in the city. I would like to go buy some herbs to pot up though so maybe I can get Jos to take me and that will cheer me up. I am still very tired and am sleeping more than usual.
Congratulations to Janet on her win. I may have to pop over and see her blog as I have never been there before.
Hugs ~
Heidi

ReplyDeleteJasmin is very a very pretty girl and surely a very smart one too. She went to school and you faced a mountain of work. Wow, I sure wouldn't want to have to spread all of that around. Hope you got tea breaks too.
ReplyDeleteNancy
Mary, this is the third time I have tried to send you a note... I hope this time is a charm. I love all your mulch but I think I will stick with the bags. Be careful spreading it.
ReplyDeleteJasmin is very pretty. Spending the night with grandma is fun for all. When my G-children spend the night it is for 7 days running.(grandkids week). They sleep all over our bedroom floor. We escape to the guest room. :)
Have a great day, Jeanne
