My newest foot gear......have to admit I love different looking shoes/boots.Since traipsing merrily through numerous French markets last October, I've searched for a pair of silver, yes SILVER, sneakers! Not running shoes with bits and bobs of mesh and vinyl, real classic style leather sneakers.
Crazy I know, but I loved the look on other market goers - you know, that little extra touch French ladies seem to use to spice up plain pants or jeans.......even mid-calf skirts with leggings peeking out underneath. Leggings are back and really popular this Fall. They now come with touches such as buttons and zips at the bottom......and in great stretchy fabrics such as the black cable knit pair I grabbed at JCPenney recently. Oh yes, I'm ready for cool........soft scarves, tall boots and warm legwear at the ready.
Wearing my new silver shoes out into the sunlight for their first visit to SuzAnna's antiques was a brave step. Paired with black ankle pants, a silver-grey sweater and a plum suede tote bag, they looked OK. For a moment I imagined I was back in Provence at the market as I looked through linens and lace.
I seemed to gravitate toward silver stuff on SuzAnna's tables and shelves. A vintage silver clutch purse, perhaps I should have bought that cutie.
Lovely decorative silver serving pieces at reasonable prices......if only I had room for more.
Loved this butter dish and the great old serving spoons
Jeannie of Uniquitiques displayed some vintage silver backed hair brushes ~ could see them in a tarnished silver bowl in a bathroom, perhaps with an old sepia toned photo of a lady with flowing hair.
Italian leather silver sneakers found online at fabulous Zappo's.Do you look for the different shoe? Are you drawn to shoes that are unusual........perhaps a slightly quirky look or an uncommon color? I love European shoe styling...........and of course leather from Italy is always beautiful. Comfort does now come first for me. No longer teetering around on high heels, although I love them, but flat shoes can be cute also.
How about sharing your shoe favorites.............just remember whatever feels comfy and makes you and your feet happy works!

I love your shoes. I've noticed that silver or gold look in the windows in Paris. I haven't bought any yet. Waiting for the sales.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your silver sneakers.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I went through a phase of wearing gold shoes all summer long but I eventually got over it when we moved to muddy Normandy.
Perhaps I should get Gold Wellies?

Mary! They're absolutely gorgeous! I so wish I had bought the silver ones I saw in Rome instead of the cream and navy... ah! The plum bag... I just can't get over it! It's so pretty!! Love, Vanessa
ReplyDeleteI hope Jasmin knows what a neat lady she has as a grandmother! I don't think I ever saw my grandmothers in anything but navy or beige...hehehe!! Missed seeing you this weekend but looks like so saw the good stuff at SuzAnna's!
ReplyDeleteNice shoes, Mary! They are very much the 'look' here. I havent succumbed yet.
ReplyDeleteMary, of all the lovely photos you showed today, I especially love your silver sneakers. I gravitate toward total comfort, too. Suede boots and clogs in the winter, leather sandals in the summer. Lovely post.
ReplyDeleteLove the silver shoes! My next door neighbor brought back a pair of shoes for her daughter here. Talk about cute!! They were pink tennis shoes, lace up, zipper on the side, and a small high heel! I'll have to get the picture from her and post it on my blog. European shoes are always so nice and comfy. I bought 2 pairs of boots there last year. I did notice from my neighbor's pictures her daughter in Germany was wearing the leggings, and cardigan sweater which is really big fashion over there. So Mary, you're right in style!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the silver shoes and all the silver goodies at SuzAnna's. Looks like a place I'd like to spend some time. I love unusual shoes, in fact I have a pair I purchased in Paris several years ago that look like paintings. Each shoe is a different part of the painting so when you stand together they flow as one. LOL I wore them to brunch on Sunday. I always feel so artsy when they are on my feet. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteWell, your silver tennis shoes are really cute but I wear all Clark shoes. I find them super comfortable and I have them in all colors. I go for comfort for sure.

Very nice shoes, they are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I can find some here.
Although I don't do so myself, I love ladies who wear spunky shoes. You just know you want to get to know them because they are such individual personalities!
ReplyDeleteMy dear, I have searched the Zappos site (my absolute favorite!) high and low and can't find the silver sneakers! HELP?
ReplyDeleteI have one pair of Superga tennis shoes....in gold! So I really can understand you.....

FROM MARY -
ReplyDeleteLeilani - type Women's Superga Silver Sneakers in the Search box at the top of the Zappos page, or try this link http://zapp.me/7456069.
Three styles should appear - mine are the Rimini leather style. Very comfortable but run a bit wide for my narrow foot. I put Dr. Scholl's insoles inside which makes them even softer to walk in!
I love your shoes but I'd like to see you in the whole outfit. It sounds so cute! I am always so jealous when you go to SuzAnna's.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Susan
Oh yes, I like those sneakers! They look good on ya,too. I'll have to go back and check out that plum bag. I have a pair of lime green metallic flats from Sigerson/Morrison that I've worn a lot. They're so comfy and quirky.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about wishing you had more space to put all the pretties you see at the shops. How nice you've gotten to shop the Paris flea markets. You've prolly been to Portobello road, too. toodles~
Thanks Mary for responding. Discovered why I couldn't find them -- they are out of my size!
ReplyDeleteBummer! So now I'm envious of two things: your spiffy silver shoes and being able to shop at SuzAnna's. Life can be sooooo disappointing at times.
Ooooh, I love your silver sneaks! They look good. Very classy. I'm always drawn to sparkly, shiny things...and things just a tad out of the ordinary.
ReplyDeleteWith my big feet, however, I keep my shoes simple and go for comfort whenever possible. The older I get the fewer styles seem to be comfortable - sigh! Don't think I've got what it takes to wear silver sneakers!
I love fun shoes & other accessories! I have gained a reputation around the office for the fun "extras" that I wear. My favorite new shoe trend is ballet flats -- there are so many adorable styles & they are so comfty.
ReplyDeleteI have to say those silver sneakers are quite cute! My favorite shoes to wear all year long are Birkenstocks. I have arizona sandle style and euro clog style. I wear them with skirts, linen pants, jeans, and even sweats. I cannot live without my birks!
ReplyDeleteLove your shoes !! They are modern shoes for a princess. Actually I have almost the same
