I ran away yesterday...............to Trader Joe's. Had to escape the dining room and see the world for an hour. I love this store but have to drive to the next town to shop there. Soon one is to be built just minutes from the cottage, the lot is ready and hopefully they'll start construction this Summer.
I spied beautiful boxes of Lady Fingers...............they are from France! Right now my fingers don't belong to any lady, they are paint and wax stained, red and rough from so much washing. They need slathering in sweet lotion such as this one, my favorite Origins 'Ginger'.
Chipped, stained, French Grey wood........my nasty fingers are responsible! It's just about finished and I'll show a picture as soon as I get the top shelves on and display something pretty.
Fresh lavender for sale at the market.
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Provence ~ October 2008
If I wasn't so tired I'd draw a bath, throw in a little bag of lavender......and soak my tiredness away.

Mary,
ReplyDeleteI love reading your posts~they are almost poetic...
Sounds like you really want to pamper yourself but are just too tired. I am so sure that the end result of your dining room will be well worth the effort.
Hope you have a wonderful (and more restful) weekend! :-)
xoxo

I love Trader Jo's too, we were introduced to it years ago when staying in California with OH's cousin. I bought some fantastic hand cream there.
ReplyDeleteI also love the smell of lavender, it reminds me so much of my childhood and the smell from the lavrender bags my grandmother used to put in between the sheets in the airing cupboard. I have a very large glass bowl in the hall, eac year I top it up with levander and every time I dust the hall I 'stir it up' so the smell floats up and lingers. That reminds me I am out of lavender oil, must get some more.
Keep going Mary, it will all be worth it when you have finished and can enjoy your lovely room.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Trader Joe's to open!! They have a such good stuff there!! Looks like the hutch is coming along great! You mentioned a little sparkley light for your entry way. Do you want it to be electric?? Just so I know...Mom and Anna are going to some big sale this weekend and can be on the lookout for one!
ReplyDeleteOh...Trader Joe's...one of my favorite places to shop! Love the picture of the Lavender...I can almost smell it...love the smell.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Trader Joes a couple times and I never seem to see anything I really want. I must not be looking in the right place. The lavender sounds great. I would have bought that.
ReplyDeleteThe lady fingers do look yummy too.
I hope you soon can just sit and relax in your finished room.
Nancy
I love the look of those full bags of lavender...mmmm...can alsmost smell it.
ReplyDeleteLadyfingers?! Haven't one of those in so long. I had even forgotten about such delicacies until reading it here. Yum!
Good for you taking a break! Now as far as those fingers not being French, not true for those living in country villages. They work hard and don't worry about things. They are not chic and all made up like in Paris but show a special healthy beauty that I really love. So, yes, right now you have French fingers... :)

Trader Joe's came to my smallish city last year and everyone went batty .. including me! Salad dressings, inexpensive/good wine ~ I love shopping there!
ReplyDeleteI sp wish we had a Trader Joes here in Texas. When living in New York I would spend so much time there. Even though it is a relatively small shop, I could leisurely glance at all their products. Good luck with the painting!

Those bags of lavender look wonderful and must smell wonderful too. Looking your age when you look in the mirror - trick is not to look in the mirror too often ! and slap on lots of the Origins handcream - and moisturizers too. Your dining room will look lovely when it's done.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that you are not allowed to bring "dried flowers" through customs...please say it isn't so. I need to bring some french lavender home to go with the lavender I got at the lavender farms in Washington state last summer.
