Trying to stay cool at SuzAnna's.................

Stifling hot Saturday afternoon. I showed you the hot looking rusty, but adorable, bits a couple of posts back. Here are some other pretty things I saw at my favorite place, SuzAnna's Antiques last weekend.

Some cool looking garden urns being watched over by a chunky winged cherub........hopefully another lovely fountain will arrive (the other one sold after my friend Vanessa's little Luna took a dip in it last Winter!). We need the sound of soothing, cooling water on these hot, humid Summer treasure hunting days.

Blue and white..........skies, pools, seascapes, t-shirts, but mostly china.........cool, clean, refreshing.

See the stunning Blue Willow turkey platter, it's old and expensive! My Mum had one just like that until, sadly, it was broken. One fewer heirloom to pass down.

Why was I thrilled at the sight of this old tin of talc?

Well talc cools your sticky sunburned skin after a day in the sun. But I love it more for spelling JASMIN the same way as my sweet granddaughter's name........the French spelling. Everyone wants to add an E!

And while we're talking tin....how about this frame made from old tin tile. It looks perfect hanging on a vintage wood wall............if only I had a wall like that.

Are you planning to treasure hunt at the weekend?

Come Inside SuzAnna's

The first new dealer I met setting up her wares in SuzAnna's Antiques new addition, was Cindy, recently relocated to our great town from Dallas, Texas - welcome! I can see she will bring her creative spirit to the shop as she, like me, worked in design and advertising over the years. I managed to get a picture of this really neat little shabby French blue shelving unit just as it was about to be removed - SOLD! The lucky gal who found this to take home was happy.

The fabulous large blue transferware bowl and pitcher caught my eye, how could it not, wish I had room for it at my house. I'll be back soon to chat again with Cindy, she is certainly stocking her corner with pretty items.

In another corner this dealer has some good pieces, and look at that sparkly Paris sign on this lovely painted chest of drawers. Unfortunately I haven't a space for the chest but would have grabbed the sign however it was not for sale.

I thought this tin piece was a perfect shabby pink - notice how SuzAnna's super building guys (their hubbies did much of the work - great job Bruce and Tony!) made the addition look old and shabby, both outside and in. The use of old wood makes beautiful walls to display all these charming items.

Can never have too many shelves to display our dishes..........................come on own up, you know you have a collection too!

Dangly crystals, light bulbs..........so many combinations designed into gorgeous chandeliers. Always the prettiest, romantic lighting options.

This elegant chair is one of a matching pair - I can see it reupholstered in a natural heavy linen, the wood frame perhaps painted and distressed in French blue grey.

Always room to add another pretty rose to a room............delicate china cups for tea, and love those rosy bowls.
Have you noticed how candelabras seem to be popping up in all the decorating magazines - this one was really heavy with the marble base - I had trouble not allowing myself to be persuaded to take it home!

Hope you enjoyed visiting SuzAnna's new addition - think you'll agree there are some lovely treasures here just waiting to go to some lucky gal's home............you just know I'll have to stop by again very soon and show you more.

A Personal Secretary

Last Thursday I took a break and popped over to see my favorite gals at SuzAnna's Antiques - you can see owners Susie and Anna at the bottom of my sidebar. One of superwoman Anna's talents is the weekly newsletter which is informative regarding new merchandise, and hilarious as she writes so well. The big news........other than the new 'secretary'.........was that the shop is expanding in size and will be even more fabulous in a couple of months with space for much more wonderful stuff, yeah!!
.........................well back to the secretary, not a modern adminstrative assistant, a good old fashioned secretary which somebody shabbied up a bit and left at SuzAnna's in hopes she would be given a job...........I mean home!

Can you believe many decorating ladies came from near and far to look and perhaps buy this piece over the weekend - they read Anna's glowing description in the newsletter ~ "one of the prettiest pieces we've ever had in the shop". But guess what..................as I was there Thursday I got to buy it and on Sunday afternoon Susie's fabulous dh brought it to my house and helped my great dh get it up the stairs into the newly painted guest room.

Here she is in the shop.
This is the lovely Linda showing me the attributes of the secretary. I've always wanted a pretty desk to sit at, and cubbies like these to store my writing papers, journals etc. Three drawers and three shelves for lots of display and storage.

I must also tell you that Linda, who works diligently setting up displays, organizing and tempting us to buy SuzAnna's treasures, is also a designer and organizer who goes to homes and helps anyone who is challenged when it comes to those difficult choices such as picking paint colors, placing their furniture, and getting rid of all that unwanted stuff.

......................and am I lucky.........in the Valentine game at SuzAnna's I was picked as one of the winners...............and my prize is one hour of the lovely Linda's precious time. She will come to my house and help me with anything I want..............what a great gift ~ I know we'll have fun together.

Just a quick peek below at the secretary now in her new position......at my house. I'll show you more later when she has had time to get used to her new surroundings ~ I plan a busy and decorated life for her.
