I'm feeling a little blue because I won't be visiting Provence this Autumn. Looking back through my photos taken last October, I still find little treasures to share with you. Some of you have been here, others plan to visit soon. You will love this area of France.........it will stay in your memory for years to come......and, like me, you will hope to return.
Metal chair under a fig tree.
It's rare to find a country house in France that doesn't have an outdoor living area. It is as much part of the house as any indoor room. Designed for sitting, dreaming, perhaps reading, and always for eating and drinking.
Aviaries and fruit trees in the courtyard.
Visiting textile dealer Michel Biehn's amazingly beautiful house/shop/office in L'Isle sur la Sorgue, I felt the charming garden leading to the front entrance provided a harmonious link to the lovely interior. Provencal fabrics and furnishings spilled out from each room, and a peek into the magnificent kitchen set my heart racing........................
.......and over there, just beyond the trees........
Sunday Antiques Market
.....the River Sorgue complete with waterwheels and bridges, invited diners to sit a while, relax with a glass of wine, after the busy market day.
Waterwheel on the River Sorgue.
Next time I'll show you more of the beautiful sitting places at La Madone in the town of Apt, Provence.

It looks so beautiful! I am looking forward to going to France. I could never get tired of tooking at your pictures from Provence...
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you will not be going back to Provence this year (although you have to be exhausted from all your recent travels!). I did enjoy these pictures. Wish I could have seen Michael Biehn's kitchen...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend, Mary!

The figs look gorgeous (earlier post). I think I'll have to sit a chair under my fig tree (this post) since the only thing it is producing is one rock hard fig. The birds don't even want it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your travels!

Love, love, love those pictures! Everything is just so beautiful! I can't believe it has been almost a year since we went to Germany, and I am still showing pictures too. Of course, I am new to blogging having just started posting this year. Would love to go and check out that area of France though, your pictures instill a longing to travel once again!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures to entice my dream'n. I am reading A Year in Provence right now and preparing for our journey; so you post is perfect timing.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pictures and the narration is great. Are you getting tired glove trotting. I know that young one isn't getting tired.

While I was away from blogging for a while I had forgotten how much I loved your blog! Your photos are inspiring and I loved seeing your "pink" photos... love the one of the turret with Starbucks. You amaze me with the number of places you've been! I have added your feed to my updates so I will know when you add a post.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Christi
I was there two years ago and loved it. The markets, the antique stores. We were there for the antique market and wanted to stay longer, but had to fly home. Darn. Someday, I'm going back. Your post made me nostalgic. --Delores
