As dusk falls across the garden
some flowers take on an
otherworldly look.
A favorite purple clematis climbs an old obelisk each Spring. Rusting legs caused it to fall in a recent wind, I was concerned the thin brittle stems were broken and my flowers would die. Happily they survived. I shored up the shaky structure with strong wooden stakes. Improvise in the garden. Don't toss out the old things, they bring history to the place.
Shabby in the garden works really well.

Beautiful flowers Mary. I have given up on trying to grow clematis. I do no not have a green thumb.
ReplyDeleteI've lost so many clematis with slugs eating them. This year they are trying hard, but are not yet in flower. Yours is lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteOh,that is a beautiful deep purple flower!!
Now I know why your name suits you so,"Mary,Mary, quite contrary".
I wish I had half the plants you do.
You have got to show us some more pictures of anything!!!
Vicki
Purple is such a regal color. It always makes me think of flowing velvet capes.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many blooms on this clematis. I wish I had that many at once. I am afraid I must be satisfied with only one or two blossoms but being able to enjoy them for a long time. We just don't get enough sun in any one spot of the garden so they are hit and miss unlike our wisteria. This is a pretty deep color. Which clematis is it? Do you happen to remember the name?
ReplyDeleteWe have President in blossom right now but as I said I see only one bloom as I gaze out the window though it is one of perfection.
How are things there? Are you finding more time to rest now?
Hugs ~
Heidi
I have this beautiful flower climbing up a trellis, but not nearly as full and pretty as yours.

I was also worried about my clematis. We had such a strong wind come through, in the late winter, that tore mine off the birdfeeder it grows around. I thought for sure it was had for. But it's thick, fluffy and had buds...not beautiful bloomed ones yet, like yours! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic shade. It does looks so dark and moody in the fading light.

So lovely... thanks for sharing, Mary.
