Sunrise over water takes one's breathe away. Colors change by the second. Chattering birds awake and fly from their roosting sites. Fishing boats are seen as specks on the horizon. A little van pulls up and morning papers are delivered to the hotel next door. The the early kitchen help arrives and that friendly clattering of breakfast dishes is heard from the hotel kitchen.
On several mornings I flew out of bed and rushed to the windows to watch this spectacular sunrise over the bay as the crescent awoke.

The manicured gardens, tennis courts and pool above the beach looking toward Thatcher Rock.
This was our second stay at The Balcony Apartment. We hope to return again for more days of elegant living 'across the pond'.

At the risk of repeating myself once again, I really do want to visit here! :) And since I now have my mother hooked on reading your blog, may I add.....right mother?
ReplyDeleteThis looks so enchanting. I would linger forever at breakfast. How did you actually capture the sun inside your camera. The photo is so sharp and crisp that the sun rays actually hurt your eyes. Wonderful!
Are you back on schedule now at home? I would think it would be an adjustment to leave this and go back to daily things. How long is your DH off in New York?

Ok Mary, Heidi and I have decided you need to join us in Devon when we go, and we will go. We want to stay right at this same hotel, have breakfast on the balcony, but, then we really have to go shopping.

I'd rather be there than here, where it snowed this morning. Yuck!

I recently became interested in Devon when watching the lovely movie "Sense and Sensibility" which I absolutly love. I know little about England and I enjoy reading about it. Thank you for such lovely photos and all these details and information. Perhaps someday I'll have the opportunity for a visit there.
ReplyDeleteOh my, this looks as though it is straight out of a dream! How wonderfully picturesque! The dining area looks as though it has been taken out of a catalog and put right there for your enjoyment. It sounds just perfect! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDear Mary
