I'm arriving late for Karla's Romantic Country Party - but better late than never!!
Karla has invited us to show or tell what we love about our home.
Karla has invited us to show or tell what we love about our home.
What do I love about my home? Well I could say everything and show you loads of pictures, but that would steal precious time from your visits to all the other wonderful places being shown and shared today. Of course, if I'm completely honest, there are a few things I'm not so happy with - but what the heck, nothing in life is perfect. That reminds me, need to get that paint can out and start redecorating again!

In the living room I love my fireplace which burns oak and hickory logs so well through the Winter months.

My Autumn mantle decoration!
My beloved Devon pottery jugs with hand painted Jacobean flowers that belonged to my Mother and fit so well with this crewel embroidery I did many years ago.
Quiet blue grey bedroom where the color changes with the light, and my vintage shutters with iron 'dogs' bring back memories of France and Italy.
And here.................my favorite place to read.
In the dining room my delicate bone china 'tea service for one' which was my Grandmother's.
My 'Torquay' patterned china - my seaside hometown in England - with shells and seaweed.

My kitchen island where I love to prepare good food including fresh veggies from the garden.
Writing on the kitchen wall reminding me to enjoy life.
And this view I awake to each morning - my peaceful back garden with the Victorian gazebo where I sit with my coffee and am thankful for my home, my family, and my many treasured friends.
So here's a quick look at some favorite corners and family treasures. Some pictures you will have seen before if you've been visiting for a while.
My front porch - small but cozy and I have made it into 'outdoor room'.

We create our tomorrows by what we dream today.

What a lovely entry this is Mary! I enjoyed seeing more of your home.
ReplyDeleteSo much to comment on.....
Firstly, I love the crewel embroidery you made. Do you still do it? This is a Jacobite design isn't it? It is beautifully done! Did you know I have a seperate handwork blog?
I loved seeing where you like to sit and read. It looks like a warm and cozy spot.
How wonderful that you have a tea service that belonged to your grandmother. Things like this are our most precious treasures in life. The Torquay china is also very pretty. Do you go there when you travel home to England?
Your back garden looks amazing! Firstly, I simply love the look of your house and then you have perfectly landscaped your gardens to make it so delightful. The gazebo is wonderful and I only wish I could stop by for a cup of tea there and a chat! Oh for a garden where I could see more than all of my neighbors houses. We really live on top of each other in Holland.
Thank you so much for sharing! Oh and does it get cold enough to have fires in the pretty fireplace often in the winter?
It's truly lovely. I love the exterior of the house, the porch tucked into the side, my ideal little cottage look. And the wall words are exactly the look I am wanting in my kitchen. Visiting your place inspires me to get busy! The gazebo looks inviting enough to spend the afternoon sipping iced tea and chatting with a friend or reading a book.
ReplyDeleteAh Mary...it is so beautiful and tranquil. I love it all!

ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been by lately. My daughter and grandson are in from Virginia - since Wednesday. They will be leaving Monday. Today was granddaughter's 5th birthday party - early because her other grandparent's will be out of state October 4. Things are very busy, but I hope to be back blogging soon.
I love your home!
Hugs to you,
