Blooms in the garden are few now ~ the torrid heat and almost non-existent rain have wreaked havoc....................Nature struggles to put forth anything fresh, new or colorful these past few weeks. But I do love green! When permitted we water. Still restricted to a few hours a week but this does enable the many shades of green, from chartreuse to hunter, to fill in the bare spaces.
The flowers start out pointed, somewhat like a Morning Glory bud, then slowly unfold and open in their stunning pinkness, surrounded by a backdrop of thick, leathery, dark green leaves.
The Mandevilla is an annual here so I plant a new one each year after the last frost ~ must have something pink throughout the long, hot Summer.
Be sure to visit Beverly at How Sweet The Sound our Pink Saturday hostess. There you will find the list of this week's participants and I'm certain many of them are surrounded by every shade of pink imaginable!

Beautiful flower!
ReplyDeleteI love that shade of pink very much.
Happy Pink Saturday!
I love the Mandeville. So do the butterflies. I had a lovely yellow one in a pot just outside my house.
ReplyDeleteIt grew up the column and one day I came home to catapillars all over it. Does that happen to yours?
It wasn't a pretty sight greeting my guests so I moved it.
Thank you for your warm welcome to FFFF.

We have that gorgeous plant here, but only as a pot plant, not like yours! It looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteGood morning dear Mary, It seems like just yesterday when the gazebo was new. Or maybe it was screened but not new. smile! The Mandevilla is gorgeous, and it grew so fast. The flowers are so beautiful. Your pics are great. I may have to change my mind about this annual. After France, come to the mountains and we can talk about it. Smile.

I am a little late but I am here. I love your gazebo and the beautiful pink blooms. The rainless and hot dry weather is bad here too. Everything is worn out and we are praying for rain. But my pink crepe myrtles are blooming away. Happy belated Pink Saturday. ~ Lynn
ReplyDeleteI love the *pink* Mandevillas, we had them for a few years around our pool. We had them in pots, and they did very well for us. Your garden looks lovely!
