When I came home and looked at my photos after uploading, I saw the brushes again and decided their old silver backs really were beautiful. The etched borders, repousse work depicting tiny roses and leaves, monograms GWH, FEL, HGB, the soft natural bristles, all mean these do have a history going back long before blow dryers and flat irons!
So I returned and purchased the brushes thanks to Jeannie giving me a bargain price for all five. They are displayed in this equally old ironstone bowl.
OK Blogger friends.................what's with Google's storage problem with Picasa? It's been 5 long days since I purchased more annual storage from Google and still I can't load any pictures to my blog (these above were in a draft so already loaded). The max time for storage renewal is supposedly 24 hours but obviously that is not true.
Anyone else out there having a similar problem? I do see dozens of complaints such as mine in the Google help forums. People are so frustrated, tempers are flaring, Google is being called nasty names. Where do you store your photos to upload to your blog? Can anyone give me a good alternative to Picasa please.
Heaven forbid.....can my blogging days be coming to an end?

I keep my pictures under My Picutres. There should be a setting for this somewhere in your document setting on your computer. You do not have the capability to make collages but you can download all your pictures there.
ReplyDeleteLove the brushes and just saw some yesterday. Makes a nice display. I have got to knock on wood. I just put my pictures on my computer and I don't know how I get them from here to whereever. I just had to deal with getting a new printer and how to operate it. It tells me it can't do this or that, I check ok and then it does it. I don't know.Blessings

I love the old brushes. The picture in front of the mirror is beautiful. I wish I could help you with your problem. I am new to blogging and I upload all of my pictures straight from my desktop. I hope you can find some answers to your questions. Carla
ReplyDeleteThe silver brushes make a lovely vignette. There is something about old silver...
ReplyDeleteI haven't had to buy any Google space yet. Your problems make me wonder if, when my time comes, I should pay them or not.

Love all your photos..
ReplyDeleteabout Picasa..have used it since it became available,.and love the simplicity and ease of use.
for storage, I store mine under My Pictures on my computer, also every once in awhile, I transfer to a seperate hard drive designated for my photos only. Have never paid for storage on any site..
originally was with yahoo, but when they cancelled their photos, I moved to Picasa, they later cancelled my email account without warning..so after begging, pleading all to no avail, all of my info , contacts, personal, legal and professional emails..gone..so over to Google I went, and have been using Chrome ever since..no spam..great site..
so my advice is this: go through your photos, saving the very best, deleting not so goods..etc..then do as i do, go into MY computer, then my pictures, set up folders to identify according to whatever system you can understand. and Save..then you can always transfer to the seperate hard drive..no chance of losing photos stored there.
but i will not ever PAY for a site to store my pics..
warmest hugs..
Loui♥
I save my pictures to my computer. I don't have to worry about it getting too full as I can delete them as well. All other alternatives are foreign to me. Good luck, Mary.
ReplyDeleteI love the brushes. Oh, the stories they could tell. Maybe they are worn out from the old adage '100 brushstrokes a night'!

Hi Mary......love the brushes! I use picasa also but store my pics in 'my pictures' also. If I want to do any effects with them then I pull them in to picasa and play away. I can't image all the pretty pics you must have to be having this trouble with them. Good Luck!

They're truly a beautiful treasure. They look great on the bowl. Sorry to hear about picasa, it must be very frustrating. Hugs! Vanessa
ReplyDeleteI haven't had that problem with Picasa yet. I don't think that I would pay for storage, maybe I would save on one of those little gadgets and then download as needed. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteOld brushes always tell stories, such as brushing 100 times!!
Take Care!

Adore anything silver so no surprise that this is heaven to me.
ReplyDeleteAs for my image files. I store them all in Pictures & only use Picasa to create special effects.I'd never pay Google a dime. They're already too rich for my blood.
A lot of people I know use Flickr. You have to pay. I don't know what would happen though if they closed the site or had a crash. I always save my photos separately myself on an external hard drive just to be safe.
ReplyDeleteMine are stored under 'My pictures' and so far have never had a problem with downloading them.
ReplyDeleteMary.....have you got a follower button? If so , I cant find it!
Hi, Mary, I store my pictures in my computer under "My Pictures." I love those silver brushes. I have a few small silver pieces. I took your advice and used that small silver footed cup with the silk rose on top of a small pile of books. Looks very nice.
ReplyDeleteI have a Mac, therefore I have iphoto. Blogger just loads my photos from my computer storage. I also realize that when I do that, those photos automatically go to Picasa. I really haven't used Picasa. Where do you store your photos? Photobucket is another one I love. You should try it.
ReplyDeleteI started new blogs when my blog memory was full. It was just as easy since I had started a Yahoo email account and I just refused to pay a yearly fee after it being free for years. I guess I have really become Dutch...lol.I hope it is solved soon.
ReplyDeleteThe brushes are beautiful in the bowl!
Hugs from Holland ~

I store all my photos on iPhoto in my iMac and upload them from there to Google. I do have Picassa 3 that I downloaded and use that to make collages, etc. But I've never figured out (for lack of trying) how to get more than one photo from Picassa to a blog post.
ReplyDeleteI love these old brushes...and it would be so thrilling to really know the stories behind them...if only they could talk! Whose initials are those, what color was the hair they brushed, where did they "live" and on and on....
Mary, I store all mine on my computer too. Pay for storage? Never.
ReplyDeleteHave a look at photobucket think that's free although limited no doubt.
JJ
Love the brushes.
ReplyDeleteI also have not had a problem with Picassa yet. But this does worry me. My photography teacher once said, store your pictures in two places. I have them in My Pictures and Picassa, then at the end of a year I start putting them on a CD and taking them out of Picassa. I am thinking about checking out Flickr, as that has been recommended to me.
Pretty brushes!
ReplyDeleteNo help with Picassa. I store mine on my computer...probably not the best idea!
Helloooo
ReplyDeleteI just put your new blog on my daily Read.
Hope you keep this blog..
