I seem to be collecting stacks of things lately........not like in tons and big loads, just small things in multiples that become stacks.

The two small stacks of different shaped handled bowls were from Homegoods. These appealed to me for several reasons ~ they look French, they look old due to the slightly yellowed edges, they are cute shapes, and of course they were very inexpensive, as in cheap!

The lovely fluted latte bowls, at least that's what I use them for mostly, my morning coffee. As the mornings start off cooler I enjoy wrapping my hands around a bowl of hot coffee. They can also be useful for soup, cereal, fruit, ice cream, even storing leftovers. I waited for
Anthropologie to open their first shop in this area (in Durham, NC) recently because I like their bowls which are made in Portugal. They come in a myriad of colors, are sturdy, and can go in the microwave. Of course mine are white and French blue..........and they stack up very nicely thank you.

My new stack of tiny butter pats ~ old, slightly worn on some edges, French style decoration in gold, perfect. My friend Vanessa spotted these when we were treasure hunting a couple of weeks ago. She always finds things I love......and doesn't try to sneak off with them to her house! You're the best friend ever Vanessa. The six were just $10.00, a real deal.
I like stacks of things too although I don't think I decorate with them unless you count stacks of books.
ReplyDeleteMary, you find the most gorgeous things!!!! And i love things stacked, it has a lush look about it, don't you think? As always, it's so beautiful here...xxoo, Dawn
ReplyDeleteHi Mary!!
ReplyDeleteI love the bowls with the handles from HomeGoods for the same reasons you do. And funny, I have the stacks everywhere too. My daughter Emily walks in and tells me my kitchen looks like a thrift shop. I just love to look at it all and if I put it away, I forget about it...
I have the same bowls from Anthropologie in pink. I will have to look for the cream. I go to their sale section online and find all sorts of deals. I just can't seem to find outlets near my home.
Enjoy your evening. I am still stranded in Vegas, trying to avoid spending the $400.00 I won by staying clear of the casino!! ;-)

I have similar latte bowls, all white with a dark green banner on the edge. I use one every morning for my cereals.

Great looking stacks, Mary! Of course, the stacks are made of some of my favorite things. Which makes like them even more!
ReplyDeleteOh Dear! It such a pleasure to shop with you and get lots of tips on decorating/ "stacking" from you. Love all the little bowls and butter pats and I must confess you're getting me started with this passion for all things "stackble" when first gave me thos lovely french blue salad plates. Love them all!!! The little fruit shapped butter pats look adorable here in my house!! Thank you so much Mary!!! Hugs! Vanessa
ReplyDeleteI love the round bowls with the handles. You can never have too many!
ReplyDeleteI love your stacks! I really like the way stacks of things give a house a homey look. Your butter pats were such a good find! I particularly like your handled bowls though.
ReplyDeleteso like your stacks...so you are into the cafe aulait cups/bowls :) i too like stacks of things but, i have no place to stack them...alas.
ReplyDeletei am so bad at not putting things out and pictures up...moved into this house 4 yeas ago and still have not finished unpacking my antiques and such or putting my pictures up. alas.
I love multiples of almost anything. I especially love the bowls that you got at Home Goods -- I originally thought that they were vintage...they look very authentic.
ReplyDeleteDishes....oooooh....I love dishes! I agree about the animals. The lady that owned the house explained the method of hunt about only getting old animals and male animals...still creeped me out! Where in NC?
ReplyDeleteI love finding and collecting dishes too. There was a set I always regret not asking for and they were dinner size square plates I know from the 50's. The color pink and black! Oh how chic they were!!!
ReplyDeleteHave loads of fun on your trip! I love Asheville too, but maybe one day you can check out Highlands. Now I can really show you around there!!
We are practically neighbors! I live in Oxford.
ReplyDeleteIt took me till now in my life (50s) to really appreciate the beauty of stacked dishes, bowls and the like. Your new things are lovely, and you shall enjoy using and gazing at them too!

ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow!!

I love, love your stackable bowls that look so French, but aren't. I am sure they are a much better price. I wanted some bowls when we were in France, but no room in my bags. I did get some French vintage linens and am thrilled.
ReplyDeleteLove your friendship bouquet and silver shoes too.
