Busy time, the weekend. Warm days, cooler nights. Shopping for a cozy sweater. Catching up with dear friends. Sharing news over great Italian food......and wine. DH packing for a trip. Airport run. More shopping near the airport. Some gardening under turning leaves. Some leaves....................falling quietly.
Antique French books ~ Appley Hoare Antiques, London. Then taking a little afternoon time to sip a cup of tea and finish the last chapters of a good book ~ Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris who also wrote Chocolat and other great books full of surprises and twists.
Lovely mosaic. I will have to read that book. I love her cookbooks, too.

It was a nice weekend. But, I confess I had my nose in a book the entire weekend. It was definitely a page-turner.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful simple mosaic you have for us today, I love old books and these look as if they have many a tale to tell.
ReplyDeleteHaven't read the Joanne Harris book but since you have enjoyed it I think I'll look for it on bookmooch.

Sounds great Mary! Busy weekend here too getting ready for the eye surgery tomorrow... I can't to see you soon and hopefully with a better looking eye. :) Hope you have a lovely week! Love, Vanessa
ReplyDeleteWeekends fly by don't they? Today is a super rainy day here, a good day for a cup of tea and a book, but too much to do. So, it looks like I'll be sending quite a bit of rain your way, hope you need it!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good weekend, not too busy with some time to read. I am spending the day cleaning and doing laundry. It's dull and rainy here, a perfect day to be inside doing chores. I am cooking a turkey for Canadian Thanksgiving tonight.
I am planning a lunch at my house Sat Nov. 7 for any bloggers who could come. There is more info on my sidebar. It would be great if you could come! If there are any other bloggers you know in your area please pass the word along.
Hugs, Rhondi
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely post. I just love and adore old books. They smell so good!!
I will look for the J. Harris novel at the library when I go in today. I loved reading,Chocolat and I'm trying to get back to spending more time reading, like I used to before I discovered this new pastime called "blogging"!
Anyway, I discovered you through your comment on Sarah's Beach Cottage blog, glad I did - and hope you'll come by for a little visit sometime.
XO Heidi - Heart and Home
Oh how lovely! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
wish I was going to the mountains!
ReplyDeleteI think your curtains sound lovely - how about using some of those curtain clips - I did that in the WC - just folded the top of an old tablecloth over to make a pelmet and pressed then clipped the curtain all the way along - if your piece of fabric is nicely finished it would be no sew and you could use the pattern as the '
pelmet'
just a thought...

I love the movie Chocolat...but I am sure the book is much better. Although...do they have pictures of Johnny Depp in the book? hehehe!
ReplyDeleteHello Mary, I am thinking of you and still wishing we could get together. Such is life sometimes. I know being with our children will be special. Fall is really happening here too. A lovely time of year. Have a wonderful time this weekend with Penny,
ReplyDeleteI would love to see her home too.
Hugs and Love xoxo, Jeanne
What a nice friend to do that. Let me know how you like that book. I liked Chocolate but not the one after so I haven't read anything else of hers.
ReplyDeleteI loved the half dozen Joanne Harris books I've read(especially "Five Quarters of the Orange") but I couldn't get into "Gentlemen and Players". But if you like it maybe I should try it again.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect afternoon! We saw snow in Vermont yesterday...it looked beautiful on the evergreens along the roadside!
