Soon we'll be stowing away the garden furniture................
......Winter proofing the birdhouses and signs with a spray of wood sealant.....
..............and thoughts of hot, lazy days at the beach will be saved for next year.Sometimes we do get down to the North Carolina coast in Autumn or Winter.......maybe not paddling and swimming in the chilly Atlantic, but beach combing and shell searching in the still warm sun, casting long shadows on the damp sand, and enjoying the cooler season without the noise and crowds.
Which season do you prefer at the beach?

A STORY IN PICTURES - LOVED THAT POST MARY.
ReplyDeleteWELL, AS WE DID NOT GET A SUMMER AND AUTUMN IS ALREADY HERE WE HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE A CRUISE AROUND THE MED. HOPEFULLY 14 DAYS OF SHEER LUXURY TO SET US UP FOR THE WINTER.
NEED TO GO SHOPPING FOR A POSH FROCK NOW - DON'T THINK MY JEANS WILL BE ACCEPTABLE AT THE CAPTAINS TABLE!

I know where you've been! SuzAnna's sure was cute last time I was there. As for school starting back, it sure is quiet here. Hope to see you soon.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your news was good last Friday!
When I lived in Florida my favorite time to go to the beach was in the summer. Even though it was hot, the water was nice to swim in, the crowds were gone and shelling was great due to the summer storms....
Hugs,
Penny
It's funny because I always think I prefer summers at the beach, but then why do I go in the winter. There is something about sitting by the fire, reading a book, and looking out at the wild waves. Then a walk on a windy beach in the winter is so refreshing. I must like winter at the beach.
ReplyDeleteI am one who definitely prefers the beach in autumn over summer. I am not a huge fan of the really hot temps or lots of sun (too fair... I burn easily.) Plus I love the fact that the crowds are slim to none, and I can have the beach almost to myself. I love the feel of dipping my toes in the cold water and having an almost cool breeze wrap itself around me. Loved the picture of all those girls running hand in hand!

Lucky JJ. I loved that purple framed picture.
ReplyDeleteYes, summer is on its way out. I will sure miss the garden and watching the summer bird babies, etc.

I like the Fall best everywhere, especially the beach.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

It is very hard to believe tomorrow is September. We really did not have summer this year. Today we have low 70's, and it is supposed to stay that way all week. I love the little book you showed in your post.

My favorite time to go to the beaches in North Carolina is autumn. But, having grown up in South Florida, the beaches here just don't seem quite "right" to me. I do have these overwhelming needs to smell the ocean and see and hear the surf though, so we try to go a few times a year.
ReplyDeleteAbout now, I have the need to go just about anywhere. It has been over one year since we even had a weekend getaway, and I am concerned about leaving my mother alone.
Okay, that's the end of my diatribe. Aren't you sorry you asked me? ;-)
Hi Mary, your post is such a reminder of the coming fall season. The beach is going to be real quiet for a while. I personally won't miss the beach. I am such a mountain girl now. Your post is a sweet story of summer gone by. I think your photos are so good. It is an art you have in using a camera.
ReplyDeleteHope all is ell with you Mary.
Love...Jeanne
I love the beach in the Autumn when it's still warm enough to walk, but not crowded with tourists.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
It's defineitly autumn for me!
