Tulip time has arrived ~ and bunches of pink tulips have been airlifted from Holland to my local Trader Joe's. I found these as I shopped for other favorites such as fresh veggies and fruits, goat cheese, an artisinal French baguette, Greek yogurt, and of course some wine.
I love to have them close by as I work in the kitchen. Do you know that tulip stems continue to grow when placed in water? These little beauties were in a short tight bunch when I purchased them. I've already trimmed them twice but they're growing rapidly once again.

These are peeking out from a wall planter by the front door, and I must admit, are faux tulips - nice ones purchased at Pottery Barn a few years back. I bring these out only in Spring when real tulips are blooming. I do not buy many faux flowers however must say these look really great in a place where it would be difficult to keep live flowers.
The front porch is awaiting a good clean up and rearrangement after the wind and snow of Winter.

Stop by to see Beverly at How Sweet the Sound - lots more pink to enjoy!
Reposted from 2009 - I'm still on Spring Break!
I love trader joe's flowers! So cheap, you can afford to get more than one bunch. That garden sign is too fabulous, I love it. xo, suzy

ReplyDeleteI ready and waiting for all the glory that spring holds.
Mary... I think I'm dropping by the local florist for some tulips today! Everyone keeps posting them... but I think the beautiful pink ones you posted today are the most beautiful i've seen...
ReplyDeleteI adore that garden sign... Ricky and I are going to a flea market this coming weekend... I'll be looking for the parts to assemble one of these!

Mary,
ReplyDeleteI went to TJ's on Saturday on a wine and coffee junket and just couldn't resist 3 bunches of daffodils. Every single one opened and they are divine...so springy. Wish I had gotten tulips too. Ahhhh...Hindsight.

Last year the neighbour's children picked the blossoms off all 21 of my beautiful long stemmed pink tulips. I cried. Seeing yours reminded me.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind ... I placed a photo of your porch in my inspiration folder! Every element of your porch - no matter the season - is lovely. Is that a ficus I see on the left side?
ReplyDeleteI love tulips and am thrilled to see mine peeping up through the garden beds now.
ReplyDeleteLove that new Garden sign! Perfect for your beautiful porch.
ReplyDeleteI loved stopping by this morning! Thank you for the tour!! And the friendship!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a Trader Joe's here in Hendersonville, nor an Earth Fare or Whole Foods...
ReplyDeleteYour tulips both real and faux are beautiful! I really like the Garden Sign you picked up. It is perfect there!
Hugs,
Penny
Your garden sign is divine! What a find!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to go back to SuzAnna's.

Hello Mary, I was over this AM and had to get the phone and never made it back. My ex-dtr-in-law is dying of cancer and the phone just wouldn't let up. She left my son 10 years ago but we have always loved her. It's a sad story. Anyway with therapy today I am whipped. I love your porch photo and your garden sign is gorgeous. I too have been cleaning up the deck a little. Very little but it helps.
ReplyDeleteAre you watching Idol? The singers are great this year. I am dozing off right now so I will say bye for now.
Don't work too hard.
Love...Jeanne
The dining room makeover is most impressive. I admire you for being bold as to repaint furniture. You have really captured the 'look' of that apartment you so much admired. I also love the ingenuity that went into that garden sign. Recycled chairleg takes the cake! Love Eleanor
ReplyDeleteI adore your Garden sign. What a creative way to make something useful and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do know that tulip stems keep going. Our hostess at book club had red tulips last night. When I mentioned about the stems growing, nobody knew about (and kind of didn't believe me). She also had daffodils. Both were purchased. We won't see them growing for a good month or more here, but they were pretty in their small bouquets.
ReplyDeleteI found you blog surfing, love your blog and the garden sign too. I love signs as well, hope you don't mind I recreated my own hanging garden sign! Take Care!
ReplyDeleteSimply divine post. My "Fav" photo is of the angel, books and tulips.

Too much snow here to even think of spring.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary for your nice comment yesterday :-)

Loverly post!! Happy Weekend
ReplyDeleteThe tulips are beautiful whether faux or real. I have some faux in my bedroom that recently came out of hiding. My real tulips will be blooming in about another week.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday Mary Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI adore this post. That darn Trader Joe's has the best flowers for all. I will tell you there is no place around that can beat their prices or their quality. I would advertise for their flowers, and their products. I love to shop there.
Your tulips looke delightful, and I did not know that about tulips, trimming them. I will have to try that out.
I have to tell you that I so adore your front porch. It is beautiful. I love the angel that you have sitting on top of your books. She is an element of surprise. I adore her.
Thank you for sharing as always. I so enjoyed my stay. Country hugs sweetie...Sherry
Hello dear Mary, I just came off of spring break. I spent a week spring cleaning, painting and planting pansies. It is still so brown and wintery here. This will be a late spring this year.
ReplyDeleteI love your tulips. I never saw the original post so it is new to me. Smile. I have been looking for tulips here and there are none for sale. Maybe next week. I did not know tulips grew after cutting.
When are you leaving for Africa? I am so excited for you. what a wonderful trip to take.
Take care and enjoy your spring break.
Love xoxo, Jeanne
